'Real Life' History » Rosaline Lutece is a London native. She grew up with her twin brother Robert. From and early age they had a fascination with science. Rosalind and Robert devoured books about physics. They were inseparable, and their love for science only paled to their devotion to each other.
When they graduated from Oxford with their PhDs in Quantum Physics (at the same time, naturally), they started up their own lab, tinkering with equation and burying themselves deeper and deeper in the strange, theoretical side of physics, rarely going out for anything other than necessities.
They're never seen apart, and are so close that they frequently finish each other's sentences and have long, rambling conversation about whatever comes to mind. They're considered quite odd but very smart by the scientist they collaborate with. Rosalind is the fatalistic one, and sees endings where her brother sees beginnings. She doesn't mind this, she feels they balance each other out. She keeps him grounded and he keeps her motivated.
Along the way the duo picked up a lovely girl named Elizabeth. They were instantly smitten with her. She was so curious and intelligent, and they thought she'd make something of herself if given the opportunity. They were certain she'd miss these opportunities without assistance, so they went out of their way to help her.
When she came back from Paris with a child by her side the pair didn't even question it. They agreed to care for little Andrew while Elizabeth pursued her dream to be a doctor. After all, they had no romantic prospects, and no interest in children of their own, and this way they could prevent the pair from failing to achieve their full potential.

"Hmmm, he seems to be quite distraught." Rosalind noted of the noise of Andrew wailing at the top of his lungs. "Perhaps we're in over our head."
"Nonsense." Robert assured her, picking the little boy up. "You checked his diaper?"
"Of course." Rosalind replied, vaguely exasperated. "He's dry and refused the bottle. I told you he wouldn't take well to being weaned."
"Well, unless you're going to start lactating for him we'll just have to endure until he understands." Robert said, rubbing the baby's back as it screamed. "He'll take a bottle now, I imagine."
"I doubt it." Rosalind said, though she went to the kitchen to begin heating one up. "He's a stubborn little thing."
"It won't hurt anything to try." Robert pointed out. Andrew's wails increased in volume.
"If he keeps that up he'll-" Rosalind started
"-Have a sore throat. Yes. We could give him a bit of whiskey." Robert finished.
"Hmm. You know it would have a detrimental effect on his health." She said, as she dipped the bottle into the warming water on the stove.
"Not so much that it would ruin him." Robert countered. "Beside, I think we'd all do well with a nap, now."
"There's something we can agree on." Rosalind said. "Ten more seconds."
"Do you think Elizabeth's doing well in class?" Robert asked, to keep the conversation going and off their mutual frustration with the shrieking child.
"She might be distracted about Andrew." Rosalind said, "Overall I think she's doing well."
"Very bright girl." Robert noted with a nod.
"Yes." Rosalind said, taking the bottle out to test it on her wrist. "Give me the boy."
Robert handed the baby over, and Rosalind offered him the bottle. He latched on after a second, and began eating greedily. Robert smiled widely at her, and Rosalind laughed lightly. "At least he's quiet."
"Agreed. Now, about this new problem we're working on. . ."
