In short, Stiles is a born werewolf. His mother was the Alpha of a very small pack until her passing (which everyone is still fuzzy on the cause - Stiles believes Deucalion killed her) and Stiles then became the Alpha. With the Alpha Pack around and causing trouble, he takes it as a good time to tell his secret since their numbers are scarce. Even though it throws everyone for a loop.

Stiles is coming in right after he sees his father get taken by the Darach, whom is identified as Jennifer Blake. Seeing this causes him to start to lose control and shift right there in the school. Thankfully, Scott helps talk sense into him - even knocks it into him once - and calms his best friend down.
