No one knows how to properly do their paperwork anymore. It's enough to drive a body to drink.

Here's a step by step, for those of you who find yourself stuck with an official document to fill out. I'll make it as simple as possible. Sign at the X, every time. I promise, there is always an X. No, don't sign at the top, or in the bottom corner. Sign at the X. Yes, that X, the big one, right there. Good job. Oh, and the place where it says Date? That's where the date goes. Not in the top corner, nor under your name. And no, you don't need to initial each time you see something that looks official. It's all official. Just initial the place where it says initial. That's all. Now, was that so hard? Apparently so, because no one can do it.

So... let me get this straight, Rowle: whenever I have an arrest warrant to file, I sign on the - Y, right? Hah....

Oh yes, I thought so... Ta very much for agreeing with me, mate! I mean, here I thought most of the bureaucrats lived with sticks up their arses but - ta very much for proving me wrong! HA!

I think you'll find the sticks come out every weekday at five. We keep them very well polished.

Oh yes? Well, I'm glad to hear that! I mean, the only thing worse than a bloody stick up your arse is a splintery, unpolished stick up your arse - or so I would imagine, having never had one up my arse....!

They're wonderful for posture. And stamina.

Oh yes? Well, truthfully, I'm not too concerned for my own posture, or even my stamina, given that I am an Auror, and thus - so rarely find myself sitting about getting lazy with my posture...

Oi, mate, you're not calling me a bully now, are you? Because if you are, I think I should have some words with - whoever is polishing that stick up your arse for you, every bloody night!

oh dear LORD, mate... Me, SERIOUS!? Perish the very thought, I'll swan...! You obviously don't know me too well... But don't you fret; I'll soon make myself known inside your offices -once I figure out where it is you actually work! Heh...

There seems to be a lot of that going around. I got a summons form yesterday that was signed in six different places and initialled in three, no date anywhere...

Oh dear... I trust that wasn't my summons, Madame Chang; I'm afeared that by the end of yesterday, I was rather - tired, rather, and distracted, as well - and thus - well... it's entirely possible that I could have instructed someone to sign in all those different areas on the forms, and fail to remind them to date it - or at least, date it in the Arabic numerals you would recognise....

It wasn't yours, don't worry. At least, I don't think it was. And I really don't want to point fingers or make people feel like they have to apologise, so...

The world is going mad, one improper report at a time. It's all quite tragic.

I'm not sure it's the improper reports that were most people's first clue, to be honest.

Sadly, it's a widespread problem. Many people can't seem to fill out their details form at the hospital without making some sort of idiotic mistake.

I've charmed ink to flash shades of red when dry for the purpose of marking where signatures and initials need to go on Floo Authorization forms. It works.

That sounds like a rather effective system, Mme. Edgecombe. I may have to implement it myself.

Wait, if we have to sign on the X, does that mean we have to stop signing with an X? Because I know some Noras, not naming any names, especially not my brother's, who just aren't ready for that level of literacy.
