Is this a reapp? Is the character canon-updated or keeping Marina memories?: Yes, yes, and yes. Canon updated to much later in the series, retaining Marina memories from his first visit (and only from that, not the Fourth Wall event I brought him to).
CHARACTER
Character Name: 'Kid' Loki Laufeyson
Canon: Marvel comics mainstream continuity Character page
Timeline: Between the end of the Manchester Gods arc and the beginning of the Everything Burns arc.
Crimes: Aiding and abetting robbery, aiding and abetting property destruction, accessory to murder, theft, breach of contract, disturbing the peace, endangering the public safety, assault, online piracy, assault with a deadly weapon, invasion of privacy, instigating a prison escape, treason, gambling, blackmail, driving without license, grand theft auto, reckless driving, slander, misrepresentation of facts, self-murder, fratricide.
Abilities: He has some small skill with magic, is reasonably proficient with a bow, and as an Asgardian (well, technically a Frost Giant) is significantly stronger, denser, and more durable than an ordinary human child of his apparent age (which is approximately 13). He also has an invisible/imaginary magpie companion named Ikol who, apart from not being visible to anyone who cannot read minds, is somewhat sensitive to psychic attacks.
(there's not a huge difference between them I think but whatever!)
First Version
CHARACTER
Character Name: Loki Laufeyson
Fandom: Marvel Comics mainstream continuity. Character page on the Wiki
Timeline: Just after the ending of Journey Into Mystery Vol. 3 issue 629
Crimes: Aiding and abetting robbery, aiding and abetting property destruction, accessory to murder, theft, breach of contract, disturbing the peace, endangering the public safety, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, invasion of privacy, instigating a prison escape, treason, gambling, blackmail, driving without license, grand theft auto, reckless driving, slander, misrepresentation of facts. (Note: These are all crimes he committed as a child. As an adult his crimes include, in addition to the ones already mentioned, homicide, mass destruction, body theft, identity theft/impersonation, stalking, attempted fratricide, and mostly likely more)
Personality:
One day, a boy woke up in the streets of Paris with no memory of who he was or where he came from. He joined forces with another street kid and managed to fend well enough for himself by helping the other boy steal tourists’ wallets…. Until the day an Asgardian god/world-famous superhero called Thor chased him into the subways and said that he was actually his brother Loki, reborn after having sacrificed himself for Asgard after a long lifetime spent causing mayhem and destruction.
The revelation and subsequent restoration of identity didn’t go quite the way Thor thought it would – Loki remained in the body of a child, and although his identity as the god of mischief was restored all memories of his previous life had disappeared (with the exception of lingering nightmares, that he mentioned even before Thor restored his identity). This meant, among other things, that he was entirely without the feelings of jealousy and bitterness that had led to his bitter hatred of Thor in his past life. Loki reborn loves Thor, almost idol-worshipping him as his greatest protector and the only person who truly welcomes him – for all the rest of the Asgardians are not so quick to forgive him for his elder self’s behaviour, something of which he is well aware and does not hold a grudge over. He told the All-Mother, in response to their questioning, that he understands why he is not trusted, and though he does not like it he feels that the sentiment is justified. He was evil and deceitful for a long time, so he will have to be helpful and loyal for a long time before people will trust him again.
That said, he has on occasion shown anger about the distrust and contempt of which he is the subject – in particular, when Thor lashed out at him for hiding an important artifact at a very crucial moment, he burst into tears and grew very upset, shouting that Thor was like all the other Asgardians and that he (Loki) had only been trying to help. He eventually calmed down and returned to sitting watch at Thor’s chamber doors, and accepted Thor’s apology and explanation. As mentioned before, he truly loves Thor, and wants to remain loved and perhaps even one day trusted by him in turn.
That said, he is not above keeping secrets from Thor. Loki and Loki alone knows the true reason behind why his older self died. He was able to decipher a riddle that led him to a shade of his older self who explained that Loki had felt he had grown too predictable, and so planned to die only after ensuring he would not enter the domain of hell upon doing so, in order that he would be reborn with a fresh slate. The shade became a bird, Ikol, according to the new Loki’s wishes, and follows him around to provide advice and knowledge when it is needed. Loki calls him ‘evil me,’ and though Ikol has mentioned more than once that he is untrustworthy and evil, Loki still relies on him.
Even without his memories, Loki still remains a trickster. He is perfectly willing to use his past enemies’ and past allies’ perception of him based on his past self’s behaviour to his benefit. But he has more heart now, which Ikol has remarked on, and is far more willing to use his considerable skills in the art of deceit and causing mayhem to the benefit rather than the harm of everyone.
Part of this is no doubt Thor’s influence – it was to Thor he went, first, after learning what he could of the great enemy of Asgard, the Serpent. He asked Thor what he would do if something bad was going to happen, and something even worse would happen if the first bad thing didn’t. When Thor assured him that he would do everything in his power to make sure the first thing happened, no matter at what cost to himself, Loki resolved to do the same.
And it did cost him quite a bit. At the time period from which I am taking him, he has just succeeded in enabling Thor to defeat the Serpent, but in doing so freed one of Asgard’s greatest enemies (Surtur) and indirectly facilitated Thor’s death at the Serpent’s hands.
In addition to these stresses, he has to deal with the fallout over his past self’s deeds – both in the form of old debts and grudges following him to his new self, and his own guilt over the actions of the old Loki. He is especially disturbed by the plight of the Disir – briefly, the Disir were once the handmaidens of Bor (Odin’s father), but after breaking an oath they were doomed to a torturous, cannibalistic hunger. Due to the actions of the old Loki, they were consigned to an even worse existence as the slaves of Mephisto, lord of Hell. Loki finds it deeply unfair that he, despite being as monstrous as they, was given a second chance, while they are left like that.
For all these problems, though, he presents a rather cheerful outlook to the world. He likes Midgard and Midgardian technology, in particular his Starkphone and the internet (he’s familiar with the concept of memes), and milkshakes. He plays to what people expect of him, especially when he’s trying to manipulate them into doing something for him, and maintains a cheerful, joking, somewhat self-deprecating manner in his interactions with others. He is Loki, God of Mischief and all that jazz, but he’s also still very much a boy in many respects.
Abilities:
Loki no longer has any significant skill in magic, though he is still an accomplished liar and actor. He does seem to have some combat ability, as he participates in a few battles, but it again seems fairly insignificant, especially in comparison to other Asgardians.
Being an Asgardian (sort of - he’s actually technically a frost giant), he is also much more durable (and denser, according to the wiki) than a human child of his apparent age would be.
