Character Information Name: Donna Troy Age: 24 Fandom:DC. Point In Fandom Taken From: Before she rejoins the Titans. Job/Title in Fandom: photographer. Alignment: Good. Brief History: During DC's Silver Age, a very young team of heroes appeared, made up entirely of the sidekicks of DC's major heroes. A year later, they returned in The Brave and the Bold #60 and were officially named the Teen Titans, and became popular enough to receive their own title. Batman's sidekick Robin was on the team, which also included Kid Flash (the sidekick of the Flash), Speedy (the sidekick of Green Arrow), and Aqualad (now known as Tempest) who was the sidekick of Aquaman. DC's most prominent heroine, Wonder Woman, did not have a sidekick so the writers decided to invent one for her, giving the Teen Titans their first female member. The resulting character was named Wonder Girl, and she wore a costume that was essentially a more modest version of Wonder Woman's costume, though with sandals instead of boots. To give the character a more youthful look, Wonder Girl wore her hair in a ponytail rather than with a tiara.
The introduction of Wonder Girl was a bit problematic at first, since she was featured on the cover but her actual name was never mentioned in the issue. Eventually her name was revealed as Donna Troy and she became a regular member of the Teen Titans. There were also problems concerning Wonder Girl's origin, since initially she didn't even have one. In Teen Titans #22, her first origin was finally revealed. Apparently, Donna Troy was rescued from a burning fire by Wonder Woman, but the fire had killed her parents. Wonder Woman brought Donna to Paradise Island, where she learned the ways of the Amazons. Since Donna was only human, she did not have any of the powers or superhuman abilities that the Amazons had, so the Amazons decided to use a device called the Purple Ray Gun on the young girl. Despite its name, this gun was designed to heal rather than harm, and it imbued Donna Troy with the powers of the Amazons.
One issue later, Wonder Girl ditched the ponytail and received a distinctive new costume, giving her a more mature look. This outfit was a bright fire truck red with a row of yellow stars going diagonally down the front, black boots, and a gold belt with a W-shaped buckle.
Throughout the 1960's the team's lineup changed many times, but Wonder Girl remained a constant member of the team. Then with issue #43, the series was canceled. The team returned, however, in DC Super-Stars #1, and regained enough popularity for the Teen Titans series to return. The series continued not with #1 but #44, but was then abruptly canceled 10 issues later with #53.
