MANNER OF DRESS: Formal - suits, white dress shirts and robes when he's at the Ministry, suits and even tuxedos when he's found at a rare social gathering. When he's 'casual' he prefers dark clothes, denims, designer clothes. For going out, he does still like his designer muggle clothes, leather jackets, dark sunglasses, wool & cashmere sweaters.
OTHER: Has a scar on his chin and some find his face a bit.... disarming, like people shouldn't really find him handsome, but they do.

POSITIVE

Intelligent: Sebastien is able to retain information, even better than his father had. He craves information and knowledge as he sees it as the true source of power. He uses his knowledge in general to further his career, eventually wanting to move up to the Department of Mysteries. Also, using his keen intellect to obtain knowledge from others, even the smallest bit of information could prove useful to advance his career, help his family, his friends, or just tuck it away for when he needs to 'persuade' anyone to assist him in his endeavours. Also, having a French mother and German father, he was taught at an early age to speak both, fluently.

Independent: Most of his entire life has been spent on his own. He was an only child and very quiet and solitary while at Hogwarts apart from one or two acquaintances. Seb prefers to do things on his own and not trusting too many people. Groups only complicate things. He relies on his own talents and seems to thrive because of it.

Strategic: Sebastien always has a plan for everything. He's very strategic and always finds a way to get through any dilemma or future endeavour... with very few exceptions. During the War he had a chain of plans and safeguards set up should any of the early plans failed. He had backup upon backup - even if one detail faltered, he would move on to the next scheme to ensure his survival.

Meticulous: The Library at the Ministry of Magic is beyond organized due to Sebastien's meticulous nature. He will spend hours organizing, re-organizing and optimizing everything at his workplace and even in his home and personal life. It is the key to the ease of his everyday life.

NEGATIVE

Impatient: It's a form of sheer torture to Sebastien to have to listen to someone try and make up their mind, or make a choice. His impatience often leads to impetuous outbursts that offend and deter any kind of relationship - be it friendly or otherwise. Any haste in getting to the point irritates him beyond belief. Unnecessary elaboration is an enormous waste of time in his mind and has, on more than one occasion, abandoned a conversation for being 'pointless'. If asked, he would probably say it stems from being just like his father, being asked to 'come to a conclusion and move on swiftly'.

Short-tempered: His impatience often leads to this negative trait, being short-tempered. When his intelligence or tolerance is tested, he gets rather hot-headed and snaps easily, often making cutting remarks and spewing verbal abuse. He's lost a few allies with his short-temper and venomous statements during those times - those persons in particular passing along the rumours that he is unstable or irrational to others and not to be trusted. Hard to glean information with a reputation such as having a short fuse.

Guarded: Being so independent and reliant on himself, Sebastien has become guarded, not really willing to let anyone in. He figures the only person he can trust is himself and no one really needs to know his business as he knows first-hand how valuable it is.

Haughty: He is rather wealthy, but doesn't often show it, keeping his occupation and still working, still living in a small flat even though he doesn't need to. Seb often has his nose in the air when it's not in a book and looks down on others who he knows aren't as intelligent as he is and aren't as keen to seek it out.

LIKES: Books, knowledge, information... those three above everything. He loves knowing other people's business as it may come in handy one day. Likes to be left alone most of the time, a good glass of brandy and the smell of tobacco smoke, though he doesn't smoke himself. He also likes those who seek knowledge as much as he does, has an appreciation for history.

DISLIKES: People who think they know it all - learning is a constant process. Judgement, stereotypes, and constant bickering. Spearmint makes him ill, as much as large groups makes him uneasy.

First Sign of Magic: Sebastien was eight years old when, in his father's study, during his home-schooling before Hogwarts, he was asked to find Germany on the globe...from five feet away. He easily moved the orb with his mind and centered his vision on the country of his father's birth. Even though Mr. & Mrs. Derrick had travelled much for the Ministry as representatives to each of France and Germany, they had time to take Sebastien to the Ministry's library to observe and learn. His parents never wanted to send him to public school before wizarding school, not because they thought Sebastien would be judged or teased, reveal their wizard heritage, no. They just never trusted anyone but themselves (with superior intellects) to teach him.

Sorting: Born from two Ravenclaws, Sebastien had always suspected he would land in the house that prized knowledge and intelligence. However, the sorting hat saw his ambition and placed him in Slytherin. To say he was surprised, was an understatement, even questioning the sorting hat in his thoughts. He felt he was a Ravenclaw through and through, but his determination to prove a point and a later-found penchant for excelling beyond his family's expectations is what determined his house. While his other housemates were outwardly acting 'superior' Sebastien stayed to himself, letting them all scurry about, being obnoxious prats and he instead buckled down to learn everything he could to be truly superior.

Schooling: As was expected of him, Sebastien easily excelled in his studies and would often be found in the library or in the corners of the Slytherin common room. When he'd devoured every ounce of literature he could, he would 'overhear' discussions, and glean information that could be used to his advantage in the future. Blackmail is such an ugly word, but when needs must, it was advantageous for self-advancement and preservation. No one ever expected it from him, but then, it's always the quiet ones.

Waiting on an outcome: During the war, being true to his nature, Sebastien had at least six different plans, depending on the outcome of the war and stayed with his family. Though when the dust had settled, he set out on his own, a hefty inheritance in his 18 year old pocket. He procured a flat and even though he really didn't need a job, put in a resume for a junior assistant to the Keeper of Records at the Ministry of Magic and was easily accepted. That had been plan #4.

Present Day: Now at 23, Sebastien is the sole Keeper of Records at the Ministry of Magic, having gone through the interview process on every level, knowing the library like the back of his hand already having visited with his parents all throughout his childhood. It also didn't hurt overmuch that they were both employed with the Ministry. He tries to never use the fact that they were faithful employees for personal gain... he would never use his family like that. Other people, are a different story altogether, he's not above using others' secrets and sway to his advantage. Still at his flat, remaining out of the limelight and keeping to himself, he is still scheming, keeping contingency plans in play in case anything should happen. People often find it unnerving that he knows what they need even before they do when walking into the 'library'. Somehow, he always does though.
