Half his life was spent sneaking out of his parents house and exploring the muggle world, starting with elementary schools and playgrounds to nightclubs and seedy bars and everything in between. THOUGHTS ON THE INITIATIVE: He thinks it'll be hysterical watching all the stuck up purebloods on a road trip. Oh, AND HE TOTALLY CALLS BEING JACK KEROUAC! Spontaneous: Sirius is a fly by the seat of your pants kind of guy, which makes him a ton of fun. Gregarious: Sirius is the life of every party and can charm almost everyone. Magical: Sirius barely has to try when learning and casting spells. He has a natural understanding of how.magic works, and intuitively works most things out. Which meant he really didn't have to try hard at school, to the annoyance of his classmates. Romantic Sirius pretends to be a cynical playboy, but he's a die hard hopeless romantic at heart. He firmly believes in soulmates, even if he knows that will never happen for him. WEAKNESSES: Judgmental- The cover of the book is the first thing you see after all. Cruel - He has a capacity for cruelty that quite frankly scares him. Biting insults are one thing. Nearly sending a fellow student to his death.... Secretive - Instead of addressing his problems, he let's them fester. Spontaneous: Sirius often doesn't think about the consequences of his actions. Volatile: Sirius’ temper is on a hairpin trigger and he can go from laughing to fighting in an instant. Self Loathing: Deep down Sirius doesn't believe he is a good person who is worthy of love. After all, if his own parents didn't love him... History CHILDHOOD: Sirius didn’t begin his life as a rebel. When he was young he was the apple of his mother’s eye and the very model of a pure blood gentleman. As he got older, however, he began to question the deeply held beliefs of his family. It was not an easy childhood, there were many expectations of a young heir, but it was also a relatively happy one. He was pampered, spoiled, a loved as far as his parents were able to love. The one thing he had very little of was freedom, and even as a child that chafed at him. He was a bit of a wild thing, and didn’t want to listen to the hordes of nannies and housekeepers that were responsible for his upbringing. His mother was a presence in his life, but he could never quite get a read on her. When she was pleased she showered him with her own brand of affection and approval, but if he set even one toe out of line she would fly off the handle. She not physically abusive when he was young, but her words lashed like barbed wire and Sirius took every harsh criticism to heart. His father might as well have not existed for how often Sirius saw him. He and Regulus were quite close growing up. They were close in age, and Sirius considered his brother to be his best and only friend. He would constantly lead the younger boy into trouble, but he was just as quick to throw himself in the way of any punishment he might get for it. HOGWARTS: Hogwarts was the real turning point in Sirius’ life. By the time he reached school age Sirius had changed from a pliant, accepting child into a rebellious, angry youth. He hated the way his family was run, the strict rules of his mother and his father’s indifference. The problem was that he didn’t know what to do about it. He didn’t realize there was another way to live, a better way. Hogwarts changed that. When he was sorted into Gryffindor it was just another form of rebellion. He didn’t expect to like his roommates any more than he had liked his cousins. He was wrong. James, Peter and Remus opened up a new world for him, a world of friendship and mischief and brotherhood. He thrived in Gryffindor, becoming one of the most popular boys in school. Going home was a trial, as every year he grew farther and farther away from what his family wanted from him. He took his pleasure in petty little revenges and welcomed the punishment he knew he would get. Becoming Animagus for Remus was another turning point for Sirius. Padfoot gave him a place to escape when things weighed too heavily on him. He spent a lot of his holidays locked in his room as a dog. He maintained that it kept him from going mad. School itself was a joy, and while he’d never admit it, he loved his classes and studies. He never really had to try hard to do well and always enjoyed the angry looks from his studious classmates. Pulling pranks with the Marauders and Full Moon exploration made those seven years the best of his life. Sirius made the biggest mistake of his life when he sent Snape down to the Willow. He had always been too easily goaded, especially by Snape, and he had a tendency not to think things all the way through. So a heated argument led to a betrayal. He didn’t see it that way at the time, it seemed like a harmless way to scare the shit out of Snape for the things he said. It was only when he told James that he realized the enormity of what he had done. Thankfully James saved Snape in the end, but this is still something Sirius feels insanely guilty for. He didn’t expect his friends to ever forgive him, and is still unsure as to why they did. Sirius was disowned over the summer before 6th year. He had been pushing the boundaries of what his family would tolerate for years, and his mother finally snapped. Sirus was caught out in muggle London snogging muggle girls at a seedy nightclub. He had done it before, and showed absolutely no remorse when he was dragged in front of his furious mother. She railed at him, calling him every name in the book and hurling her favorite little hexes. Usually Sirius would scream back in these situations, and he and Walburga would shake the house with their fury until Sirius was eventually locked in his room for the rest of the holiday. But this time Sirius did something unexpected. This time he burst into laughter. The image of his tiny mother shrieking and wailing was suddenly the most tragically hilarious thing he ever saw, and he was unable to do anything but laugh helplessly at her ever increasing rage. She eventually lost complete control, turning the cruciatus curse on him simply to get him to shut up. Sirius was blasted off the tapestry that day, and the word traitor will be carved into his chest until the day he dies. He arrived on James Potter's front steps bloody and sobbing, and his friend took him in. They never talked about what brought him there that night, which Sirius will always be grateful for. He lived with the Potters for his sixth year, and bought himself a flat when he came of age. POST-HOGWARTS: It hasn't been long since Sirius graduated, and he doesn't really know what to do with himself. He hates change, and hates that he doesn't see his friends as often. He doesn't need a job, so he hasn't gotten one, but he's beginning to get bored. And a bored Sirius is a dangerous Sirius...
