Diana did her best thinking when she was flying. There was something about the freedom of the journey that excited the dark-haired Amazon. The sweet smell of the wind as it wound around her like a blanket; the chill as she got higher in the atmosphere, all of this she loved.
She wanted to go far up into the sky where the earth was just a small planet like the rest of them, a place that few people went. As a meta-human she could do things no one else could do. That was both a blessing and a curse. It was there she went during the war to get away from it, to think about Steve and just have time to herself.
But she unable to go there. She was about fifty miles above the earth when it happened. One moment she was in the sky, the next moment she was in her room. Wonder Woman was stuck in man's world.
Growing up on Paradise Island, she was taught that men were something to avoid, that they had no practical purpose but to cause trouble. Diana believed the mantra her mother and her sister Amazons taunted about the stronger sex. That is until the day Steve Treavor's plane crashed on Paradise Island.
The handsome pilot had a willing nursemaid in Diana. This one man proved her sisters and her mother wrong, he was a good man; one Diana easily fell in love, returning with Steve to man's world when he left Themyscira.
One thing Diana learned was that women could be just as cruel as men.
Walking around the room, she randomly picked up things and set them down lost in thought and then she saw Steve. Her eyelids blinked one, two, five times before she said anything. “St...St...Steve?” she began, hands going to her long mane to smooth it. Then it hit her, it couldn't be Steve, or could it?
One step closer, he walked one step closer, her entire body was tingling. But she stood there like a statue, frozen in time and space. He was so close she could touch him. Reaching out her hand to take his the tips of her fingers brushed his. Then he was gone.
Over whelmed the Amazonian Princess sat on the bed thinking, reflecting on what just happened and all she'd heard this morning; they were things that having Steve appear made sense. She reviewed the facts: there was more than one Diana in this world; she was told the other one was older and probably wiser Diana thought, people here came from multiple times and universes.
Her mind immediately jumped to the possibility that the other Diana might be her future self or might be from another future all together.
She wanted to fly, needing to be by herself; her favorite spot out-of-the question she went out her door and decided to explore.
Diana Prince needed to know if Steve Treavor was alive.
