Although The Naked Mondays gained a great deal of success and had quite the following, they disbanded in 2009 due to artistic differences and Zane went solo. Sykes is also widely known for stealing his brother Casey's wife, which is believed to be the true reason behind the band's split. Being the third of five children, there was never a dull moment in the Sykes house. He was always pretty close with his siblings Oliver Michael Sykes(November 23, 1985), Casey Walker Sykes(April 15, 1987), Kellie Lucile Sykes(August 1, 1992) and Jaden Xander Sykes(June 9, 1999). The Sykes' moved to Atlanta, Georgia when Zane was a year old. Ronnie had been offered a job at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Hospital and he just couldn't refuse. The whole family would take two vacations a year back to Idaho to visit family. Wanting their children to be well-rounded and ready for life, when the time came the Sykes enrolled each of them into Woodward Academy, a private college preparatory school for grades K-12. top Relationships Zane Sykes in 2009. Zane knew from the young age of 10 the girl he wanted to share his life with...Annamarie Adele (née Hunter), she was 13. She was also dating his brother. He kept his feelings to himself for years, dating here and there. No one ever held his interest like Annamarie. February 20, 2006 Zane poured his heart out to her. "I literally told her everything and then I kissed her. It wasn't a smart move. It resulted in me getting slapped and my heart broken...but it was her wedding day. I was sure she would hate me forever after that...things certainly changed." Rumors of an affair between the two surfaced in March of 2008. Despite photographic evidence of them going on dates, holding hands and even including Josephine, Annamarie's daughter with Casey, they both denied that anything was going on. Annamarie claimed she was "happily married to Zane's brother"...Four months after the rumors started, Annamarie filed for divorce. Less than a year later, on March 14, 2009 Zane married Annamarie. "As soon as I saw her she was it for me, there was never anyone else. There was never going to be anyone else. I didn't see a reason to wait." Although it is believed Zane was the cause of the end of his brother's marriage, no one knows for sure as none of them will talk about it. Sykes has said the following when asked about his brother. "Casey and I have a strained relationship at best. I'll admit it's gotten better, we've actually spoken. That's more because of Joey than anything else though. He's my brother, I love him. The ball is in his court and has been for a while." top Parenthood Daughter Isabella Maye. Niece Josephine Olivia. In marrying Annamarie, Zane gained his niece Josephine Olivia Sykes(September 16, 2006) as a step-daughter. "Joey" lives with Zane and his wife full time. It has been said that she is very fond of her uncle. On October 19, 2009 Zane and Annamarie welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Isabella Maye Sykes. Weighing in at 6lbs. 10oz. she was a good sized baby for being five weeks early. "I was crazy nervous, she was so tiny. Bella is everything I could have ever dreamed for and more. That beautiful little girl has me wrapped around her tiny little finger. It's a wonderful feeling though, being a father. She means the world to me and Anna is an amazing mother." In fact Isabella might be the one to bring Zane and Casey closer together as the five of them, Zane, Annamarie, Isabella, Josephine and Casey have been seen having family outings recently. Full of laughter and smiles, the family seems to be headed in the direction of reconciliation. Also January 1, 2011 the musician announced that he and his wife are expecting their second child sometime this summer. top Woodward Academy Academics Zane really enjoyed attending Woodward Academy, often stating it's the best decision his parents could have made in regards to the schooling for their children. More so than any of his siblings, Zane really excelled in school. The only subject he ever got a grade lower than an A was Foreign Language, it's just not his thing. He loved English and History, though anything to do with performing arts were always his favorites. He played a lot of sports as well. Zane's schedule has always been super busy, for as long as he can remember. top Arts Zane Sykes playing piano. Sykes participated in Band, Chorus and Theater. He also did Guitar, Video production and Photography. Everything that he could do without schedules over-lapping, he did. He was never short on creativity and always wanted to share his work. He would have a band concert one night, a play a couple of days after that and something for chorus a few nights later but he never complained. And to top it off he would have some sports thing in between each one. He liked staying busy, plus he enjoyed every second of it. His two main instruments in band were piano and drums. As much as he loves playing piano, he always gets such a rush playing the drums. Zane never intended on using his talents to become a famous musician. He never thought that was in the cards for him, music was just a hobby for him, as was the acting. He enjoyed it tremendously, but never thought anything more of it. He formed The Naked Mondays because his brothers wanted to, he never expected it to get as big as it did and he always intended on leaving the band to pursue his true calling. He knew what he wanted to do with his life and it wasn't music. It wasn't until his chance to have his career of choice was taken from him that he even considered music as a permanent alternative. top Sports Zane Sykes playing Baseball. Baseball. Basketball. Football. Zane was on the varsity team of each of those. He never had an off season, as soon as one sports season was over he was onto the next. His true passion though, was baseball. He lived for that game, nothing made him happier. His goal, his dream, was to play professionally...and he would have. In March of 2007 Zane suffered a torn rotator cuff, ending his dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. He tried to stay positive, he was told there was a chance everything would work out. A chance that he'd still be able to do it, just didn't turn out that way. Zane was devastated, he had been great and it was all taken away from him. Things pretty much went downhill from there. During his recovery period after the sports injury, he got a little reckless. He was caught drinking, got into a not so minor car accident(which cemented the fact that his baseball career was over). Luckily he started writing music and straightened out within a few months. Even though he can't play professionally, Zane hasn't given up Baseball, or any of the sports he loves. He continues to play, sometimes very competitive games, with his friends. Baseball remains a passion of his. "I love baseball and I'll continue to play it until my body just won't let me anymore. However, I honestly do enjoy what I do now. It wasn't my first choice, but I learned you gotta be happy with what you can do, not let what you can't do keep you down." top Acting At Atlanta International Airport. While at Woodward Academy, Zane developed a love for the theater. He's done numerous plays and plans on continuing to do them...when things slow down and he has the time for it. "I'd love to do more plays, they're a lot of fun. I'd love to do more acting. Of course the right one or the right script would have to come along first, but trust me, as soon as it does, I am so there." He's done bit parts in a few movies and has had some guest appearances on television shows. Usually he just does what he does best and plays a musician, but he'd like to move past that and actually do a more challenging role. One where he's not just playing someone like himself. "If the opportunity comes along, I'd be all for playing a lead role in a movie that's not about music...or sports. Though a sports one wouldn't be too bad, I'd really enjoy playing a character with real depth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'd say no to a musical, or that I'll never play a lead role if it's as a musician. I would just rather play something else." With the addition to his family and another addition coming soon, don't expect to see anything new from him anytime soon though. top Singing The Naked Mondays Zane on tour with The Naked Mondays. The Naked Mondays released their first single S.O.S. in June of 2006 and their self-titled album a month later. They toured that entire summer, promoting the single and the album. After releasing a second single, When You Look Me In The Eyes , Zane went back to school. He kept up appearances with the band as best he could until baseball season started. After the injury, and after Zane recovered, The Naked Mondays released a new single Tonight followed by a second album Don't Charge Me For The Crime . The band was officially huge. The next year and a half was very busy for them. They basically toured non-stop. As Oliver and Casey had already graduated, Zane was the busiest of them all. He had to keep up with school and everything with the band. He was flying back and forth between the academy and wherever the band was playing that night. That kept up until he graduated in 2008. After releasing five more singles from Don't Charge Me For The Crime, they released their third and final album. Things Will Never Be The Same hit stores in July 2008 at the same time as the first single with the same title. They did one final tour and released three more singles before announcing their split in February of 2009. top Solo Sykes at his first solo gig. Zane wasn't secretive about his desire to release a solo album and five months after The Naked Mondays split he released the album Who I Am. His first single as a solo artist was the ballad Critical. It is believed it's about his relationship with Annamarie. Following the release of his solo album, Zane toured up until the birth of his daughter. During what was suppose to be a short break, he recorded a second album. Stay has done very well, the title track especially. Now after two tours, two albums and eight singles, Zane has established himself as a sole artist. He announced in December 2010, that he will be on hiatus for a year starting in January 2011. "My family is my number one priority, but don't worry. I love what I do and I'll definitely be back. I've just been working non-stop since before Bella was born, I'm gonna take a break now and enjoy everything while she's still little. I don't want to miss anything, she's my little girl and she's already growing too fast.
