oo1. andie tonks Name: Andromeda Chrysanthe Kallisto (nee Black) Tonks; Andie to her intimates DOB: 3 July 1951 Bloodline: pureblood of the noble house of Black Occupation: She had wanted to go into into healing or something dealing with the brewing of Potions, but as a child of the House of Black, and a girl, this was frowned upon. Then, she had a child at 22 and became a wife and mother instead. Since she loves painting so much, it has become more than a hobby. Her savings and her husband’s work as a Muggle newscaster, is what they live off of. Immediate Family: husband, Ted Tonks; daughter, Nymphadora Tonks; sisters Bellatrix and Narcissa; brothers-in-law Rodolphus Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy
History: Born second daughter (by less than three minutes) to Cygnus and Druella Black in 1951, Andromeda discovered the easiest thing to be was invisible. While her twin, Bellatrix, soon stood out as domineering, stubborn, powerful, and brash and her younger sister, Narcissa the perfect pureblooded, dainty daughter, Andromeda was, well, ordinary. To begin with, this made Andromeda want to sink into the woodwork, but after her sorting at Hogwarts (Slytherin, like every other Black), when it became apparent that she didn’t even stand out at school (she overheard someone near her say, “Oh it’s just another Black, of course she’s a Slytherin” after her sorting), she became somewhat of a rebel. At first it was little things—painting instead of schoolwork, taking a liking to Divination over more respectable studies, becoming friendly with (pureblooded) members of other houses. It reached its peak, though, when she fell for Muggleborn Ted Tonks, a Hufflepuff a few years ahead of her. She wanted it to be an infatuation, just the culmination of her rebellion, but it wasn’t. In 1972, Andromeda fled an arranged marriage to Lucius Malfoy and into Tonks' very shocked arms. Shortly after, Andie and Ted married in a small Catholic Muggle ceremony. Less then a year later, their daughter, Nymphadora, was born and on the same day, Andromeda was officially disowned from the Black line, blasted off the family tree by her aunt Walburga, and pegged as a blood traitor. Despite her efforts not to show it, this hurt her a lot and while she never regretted her love for her husband or daughter, she is still upset about it.
Appearance: Though she is one half of a set of fraternal twins, Andromeda looks very much like her sister Bellatrix. With hair a touch of a shade of brown lighter, and chocolate eyes rather than the usual Black family's gray eyes, Andromeda stands out at least physically. She keeps her hair usually chopped to chin-length, though she has been known to wear it longer. And she has the noble Black features. She is short, about 5’4”, and built normally, not too fat, not too thin. She holds herself regally and proudly, having been brought up as a Black. Though she does not align herself anymore with their beliefs, there are moments when she slips unintentionally into the poise and nobility of her birthright.
Special Abilities/Powers/Etc: accomplished in both Occlumency and Legilimency, which is a family trait that she cherishs
Personality: A conversationalist. An artist, so somewhat eccentric. She thrives in the nighttime. She is completely devoted to her husband and daughter and it shows (part of which was she was trying so hard to prove his worth and to validate her disownment). She doesn’t mind a lazy day. She usually keeps to herself. She's always been slightly rebellious. She likes to change her hair color, especially now that it's obvious her sister is someone whom she no longer wishes to look like.
Likes: Painting, vivid colours, jazz, nighttime, the stars, constellations, astronomy, coffee, licorice, dogs, silk. Dislikes: Estrangements, family disloyalty, war, violence, death, rodents, spiders.
