Personality: As a child, Angelica was described as lively, sensitive, and beautiful. She was a charming, talkative young girl. She loves to dance, having attended lessons with Martha Washington's girls, and to play music (piano and harp). She is fond of birds, and her father dotes on her so he has purchased her multiple parakeets.
At 17, she suffered a mental breakdown following the death of her brother, Philip. She was said to be stunted in a sort of "eternal childhood", and those who met her afterwards described her as 'simple' or 'insane'. Neither could be further from the truth. No one understood that with Philip's death she was no longer able to deny it - they weren't night terrors, they weren't an over-active imagination - she really could speak to the dead. Sometimes it was nice, like talking to Philip, sometimes it was too horrible to speak about. On those days she went mute; on those days she wouldn't recognise he own family. But she was not simple; and definitely not insane.
