PERSONALITY Russell has become a changed man over the past few years. He used to be quick to laugh, a bit spontaneous, always willing to join in on whatever was going on at the time with his friends. Now, though, his 'edges' have hardened. He found out the hard way, and at the expense of his sister, that the world isn’t the good, safe place he had tried believing it to be. Not that he was ever a naïve man, Russell had just never thought the worse the world had to offer would find its way to his door-step. That little realization has left him lacking a bit in the trust department. He is protective of his family and friends, overly so where his younger sister Marybeth is concerned, and he takes good care of the people close to him. And while normally a man with a mild temperament, should anyone bring harm or trouble down on his family or close friends that little normality just plain disintegrates into one hell of a ball of fury. Responsible, disciplined, intelligent and confident, Russell has managed to retain his passion for writing. It's the one outlet for his imagination and creativity, and the one thing that returns him to a place he once knew. When he throws himself into 'writer mode', everything else just tends to fade away. | |
HISTORY Russell Archer's life started on a pleasant summer morning in the Windy City of Chicago. He was born the first child to Matthew and Molly Archer, his sister Marybeth would be born eight years later. Russell began his education with the Washington Elementary School where his early interest for horror and science fiction surfaced for the first time. Throughout his school life, Russell was an ardent reader of horror comics. He began writing stories while still a high school student and contributed articles to newspapers and magazines. His first piece of work, a collection of short stories, was published in 1996. In 1997, Russell enrolled, and studied at, the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied English for next four years, graduating in 2001 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in English. During his enrollment at the university, Russell wrote a column for the university's independently run student newspaper. The early years were a struggle for Russell, as was the norm for most aspiring writers, which had him taking a teaching job at a Los Angeles high school. Where he also oversaw the running of the student run newspaper. Russell's first success as a novelist with his novel Ardent Desire, chronicling the early life of a psychic vampire. The novel was first published in 2005, and the first in a series of books that would catapult Russell into the realm of well known, and recognized, authors. While Russell was enjoying his new status as a recognized author, his younger sister, Casey, was embarking on a career of her own. With a little assistance from Russell, Casey broke into the modeling circle. And while Russell was able to open a door for his sibling, Casey thrust the door wide open as she slowly became a much in demand face for magazine covers, as well as much wanted on catwalks, both nationally and internationally. In 2010 Cssey's world was turned upside down, and inside out by a very persistent stalker with seemed to have been monitoring Casey and her career for the past couple of years. Things had gotten so bad for her that Casey found herself moving into her older brother's home. The break-ins at her Malibu home, nothing being taken, but always something left, had become too much for Casey to where she no longer felt safe in her own home. Her brother's home provided her sanctuary for only a short amount of time. On a pleasant, breezy fall evening, Casey at home alone, the fanatic who had been keeping to close of an eye on the model broke into the home with a mind filled with all kinds of ill intent. Russell returned home to screams that met him as soon as the front door was opened. By the time the author had raced up the staircase, the intruder was dragging a battered Casey, her clothing tattered and torn, into her bedroom. Rage, like he had never felt before, welled within him. Russell ran toward the room, his body barreling against the closed door, breaking the barrier down just in time to witness the intruder brandishing a knife as a threat to Marybeth if she didn't do exactly as was commanded. Everything from that point on was nothing but a blur for him. The next thing Russell recalled was himself, his face bloodied and bruised, and his sister both being loaded into ambulances. That was over three years ago. The perpetrator is now serving a term of eight years for the brutal acts he committed against Casey. Russell and his sister, after going through months of therapy, have since relocated to a small coastal town in Maine. Removing Casey as far away as possible from the place that held the worst of memories for her, was the best course of action to take in his mind. To try and give her a semblance of her old life. And one that was out of the publics eye. The house they took up residence in is legally owned by a third party. Wanting to give Casey the privacy and bit of sanctuary to further her recover, Russell had their names changed. Giving them both new identities and new lives, for at least as much as the world would allow. It is almost like, for all outwardly appearances, that siblings fell off the face of the world and vanished. |

SAMPLES Sample One: I think it's the best thing for her. I know you and dad would like to have Casey back home, but after all she's been through, the last thing she needs is to be around people she knew, and all the rumors and talk about what happened. She needs to be someplace where no one knows her, mom. Yes, I know her face has been plastered on the cover of more then one fashion magazine, but as has happened to aspiring models in the past, the longer she's out of the public eye, the less people are going to remember her. And frankly, in my opinion, that's what Casey needs right now. Yes mom, we'll stop to see you both in Chicago before heading up north. No, I really don't think that's a good idea. If she wants to see her friends, then Casey can reach out to them once we get there. It needs to be her choice. Yes, yes mom. We'll be careful and drive safely. I'll call you when we're within twenty miles of the house. We'll be there before you know it. Bye mom. Sample Two: Russell slid into the back booth, motioning for the waitress to bring over some coffee, giving a brief nod then to the man seared across from him. "I really appreciate this, Hank." Russell paused with his words then, while the waitress filled his coffee mug, and left a menu on the table for him before she stepped away to check on the other tables in her section. "You just make sure you keep that kid sister of yours safe, and out of harms way." The man stated as he slid a manila envelope across the table toward Russell. "Trust me, that's my top priority. Got a house with no tags to myself, and with these papers," Russell reached for the envelope, removing it and its contents from the table to slip into an inner pocket of his jacket, "it'll give my sister a new start." Russell only hoped that the new surroundings, and being a relative unknown, would be good for his kid sister. "I hope so, man." Hank returned, with the briefest of smiles. "After all that she's been through, your sister deserves to have some good and normalcy back in her life. And remember, if either of you need anything, and I mean anything, you just make the call." |
