NAME: Draco Lucius Malfoy NICKNAMES: AGE AND DOB: 22, June 5th. Two-faced Gemini GENDER: Male HAIR: White blond EYES: Light grey BUILD: Slender; a Seeker's physique MARITAL STATUS: Single SEXUALITY: He'll claim straight as an arrow but is more Kinsey 1 OCCUPATION: Independently wealthy REASON FOR PLACEMENT AT RETREAT: Draco, along with his parents, avoided incarceration in Azkaban after the war due to their last-minute shift in allegiances. Years later, victims of the Death Eaters sought justice against those who wronged them and their loved ones, and not even wealthy members of the Sacred Twenty-Eight were safe. Threats and intimidation were off the cards given the nature of the attention directed their way, so they did what the rich tend to do. They tried to throw money at the problem, and it took quite some before they realised that was not enough to make it go away. So you could say that Draco is a voluntary admission, that he is there to prove he has changed, but the decision was made very grudgingly. HOGWARTS HOUSE: Slytherin WAR ALLEGIANCE: Death Eater FRIENDS: Gregory Goyle, Theodore Nott ENEMIES: Harry Potter throughout his school years, though things are not so black and white now. Really, the only ones he is fully against now are those who would see him and his family in prison PARENTS: Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy (née Black) SIBLINGS: Only child, can't you tell? NOTABLE ASSOCIATIONS: Slytherin Quidditch team, Slug Club, Inquisitorial Squad mbti: ESTJ enneagram: 3w4 Having been raised as a precious only child, a scion of the wealthy Malfoy family, Draco has never doubted his worth. He grew up with a life of excess, so it was only logical that his personality followed suit. Confidence spilled over into arrogance, the needle of spite in most people was a viciously sharp dagger in Draco's hand...provided he was sure that he would suffer no consequences for his behaviour. Neither of Draco's parents ever attempted to conceal their beliefs in their superiority, or their allegiances to the Dark Lord in the first war, but their words always, always came with an emphasis on secrecy. On not getting caught. Azkaban was no place for their kind and they made great efforts to maintain their lofty position on the social ladder. This left Draco with a cautious streak many would call cowardice, though he had never shied away from making his opinions known. He just...wasn't eager to be locked up for them. His experiences during the war shook him deeply, he witnessed terrible things that hit even harder in contrast to the pampered life he lived before the Dark Lord's return. It has sown seeds of doubt that never would have taken root before, but one thing that has not changed is how deeply he cares about the few people he loves. He might not be the type of man a person off the street could trust to do the right thing. But a loved family member or close friend? They could be confident in him doing everything in his power to take care of them. Draco grew up a spoiled only child. Some would even say spoiled rotten. He had all the toys a young boy could ever ask for and then more besides, and never quite learned how to share. Borne of two ancient pureblood families there were distant cousins aplenty, but none who were close. So the only time he really interacted with other children was when his parents got together with others who they deemed acceptable company. This was quite often given their social status, but nevertheless Draco often found himself in the cavernous Malfoy Manor with little but the House Elf for company. This did not warm him to Dobby and in fact the poor creature was often on the receiving end of young Draco's temper and frustrations, emotions that were channelled there with few other outlets available. He certainly wouldn't dream of speaking badly to either of his parents. Attending Hogwarts was a dream come true for Draco. The dormitories might not have been on par with his sumptuously appointed room back home, but the castle was full of people. Witches and wizards for him to look down his nose at, and ones he considered near enough his equals. Any unacknowledged loneliness he felt as a young boy was held at bay while he was at school and he did well in his studies in spite of the clear favouritism bestowed on other students - even now, years later, he still feels bitter at Dumbeldore for allowing Slytherin house to believe they had won the House Cup at the end of his First Year, only to have it snatched out from under them and given to a bunch of rule breaking Gryffindors. Forgiveness is certainly in short supply where Draco is concerned. The once esteemed Malfoy family became infamous overnight with the arrest of patriarch Lucius Malfoy at the Department of Mysteries in 1996. Draco was hit hard by the loss of the man he revered most in the world. He might not have been dead, but he was locked up in a dank hellhole, as out of reach as anyone buried six foot under. This was the driving force behind Draco becoming a Death Eater and taking on the mission to murder Albus Dumbledore. In the beginning, he believed it to be the only way to rescue his father and restore the family's honour and that the Dark Mark on his forearm was a badge of honour. Lord Voldemort terrified him to his very core, he was under no delusions about how dangerous he was, but it was through him that they would protect their way of life. Reality set in some month or two after returning to Hogwarts for his Sixth Year. He had known he had no easy task before him, Dumbledore would have been dead decades ago if he were an easy mark. But no matter how hard he tried he seemed to get no closer to his target, and desperation began to set in when he felt he had no one to turn to that he could truly trust. A cursed necklace, some poisoned mead...others were hurt in his attempts on Dumbledore's life, but his true target remained unharmed. Until that fateful night in the tower, at least. When it all came to a head and he was face to face with the man he had sworn to kill, Draco choked. He was bully (and a nasty one, at that), but he was no murderer. He allowed Severus Snape to step in and do what he could not, thereby setting a tone for his actions in the rest of the war. After the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco and his parents were at something of a loss. They had staked everything on the losing side, they had lost the position in society that they so valued. Their one saving grace was the fact that they had switched sides at the last, they weren't immediately thrown in Azkaban like so many of their former allies. In the years since they have managed to repair some of the damage done through strategic donations and calculated social connections, though the task seemed seemingly insurmountable. Fortunate then that Draco had all the funds he could ever want for and could devote his time to the task rather than have to work for a living like most other people. This game is set prior to the Epilogue, so nothing noted there is yet set in stone. Cursed Child is not considered source material. NAME: fern CONTACT: Here, comments screened. WRITING SAMPLE: Here. |
