Mother. Adrienne Zabini (nee Travers) 15 March 1955 | 40. By all means Adrienne is considered a socialite, though Blaise would argue his mother is a professional beneficiary with socialite tendencies. Currently unmarried, Adrienne doesn't do much with her time but shop, take holidays, and other various leisure activities. Father. Agostino Zabini 6 February 1949 - 15 October 1985. Former owner of several magic ports outside of (Formia) until his untimely death. Due to his own arrogance, he did not think ahead what would happen to his ports should he die before establishing a proper successor. His company was sold off in pieces almost immediately following his death. Other family. Maternal Grandmother: Awa Diob (Deceased): A Senegalese sorceress. Little is known of Awa as she died in child birth though her husband and daughter maintained strong ties to her family and village until Michael’s death. Maternal Grandfather: Michael Travers (Deceased): Former Ministry Official caught passing information to Grindelwald in 1944. Stripped of his titles, land and position he spent the rest of his fortune traveling, meeting (and eventually marrying) Awa Diob in Senegal where he remained for three years before the birth of their only daughter, Adrienne. They settled in France until his death in 1980. Paternal Grandmother: Paola Morello – Owns a small café in Gaeta and still runs the place daily while wearing designer high heeled shoes. She dotes on Blaise and sends him expensive fabrics for new robes. Paternal Grandfather: Alonzo Zabini – Retired Merchant Mariner and former owner of several magical ports in Formia. He currently spends most of his time on safari. Blaise is very close with his mother (though he appears politely indifferent to the public) and sees her often. He’s not been very thrilled with the choice of husbands she has picked since the passing of his father, though he does not blame her for wanting to maintain power and a certain standard of living. He is cordial to his current stepfather but makes no effort to really get to know the man. In the summer Blaise will take a holiday to Italy for a few weeks to visit his grandparents. |
School Years. 1991-1998 House. Slytherin Quidditch. 1993-1996. Chaser. |
Flat. Luxury suite #900 Occupation. Socialite. Member of Tenants' Board. Yes Tenants' Board Position. While rarely acknowledging his neighbors, Blaise is a very polite neighbor. He would never play music too loudly, especially during ‘inconsiderate hours’ and will send out a notice to inform if he plans on having dinner parties (not that you will be invited, but the polite formality is required). He would be seen often frequenting the higher end stores and weekly in the salon to keep his hair at the perfect length, getting weekly facials and luxurious massages. Blaise wouldn’t go to the pool during the day (“haven’t you people heard of UV damage?”) though he enjoys the private cabanas and lounge. Don’t expect him to invite you up, though. Blaise prefers modern, sleek and efficient. With his income he could afford a lavish, multi-room palace he prefers extremely open loft-style living. His flat is wide, open and full of sunlight. The floors are a shined greyish white marble with blond wood accents. Separating the dining area from the kitchen is a large glass screen with an elegantly painted family tree. The upstairs of the loft is an equally open space with a king sized platform bed. The only actual room is dedicated to his seemingly endless collection of clothing. http://www.calicopot.com/wp-content/upl |
Job title. Socialite Since. His whole life, techinically. Previous jobs. N/A Blaise enjoys a life of luxury and has rarely had to struggle. He spends his money investing in the arts, fashion, and occasionally investing in businesses. He is very hands off, however, and only seems to pay attention to the more social aspects of investing. However, he has a keen mind and secretly enjoys taking the reins; Blaise sees it as a form of control. |
5 words that describe your character. Secretive. Calculating. Snobby. Indifferent. Ethereal. Blaise is elegance walking arm in arm with a lie; give him a mask and he’ll tell you the convenient truth. Like a Janus he changes his mind, manners and words to suit whatever angle he’s playing at, all to obtain whatever it is he is seeking. While he was somewhat friends with various Slytherins, Blaise always did his own thing and preferred to maintain a sort of distance between himself and the others in his house, even when physically close to someone. Blaise has a high opinion of himself and his abilities. In school he refused to work in a group or with a partner (“They will only drag me down.”) and little has changed since. He is extremely evasive though will appear transparent as possible if it means getting what he wants. Because of his high opinion he is often unaffected by people’s opinions or outside influences. To put it simply he really doesn’t care unless it directly affects him in a negative way. That isn’t to say Blaise doesn’t enjoy company. He loves parties and is rather fond of people who do not annoy him. Despite his aloof nature he is very social and a strong supporter of the arts. Perceptive: Even if Blaise can seem self-centered, or tends to not actually care what's happening to other people, he does actually notice things. In fact, he notices a lot of things, and considering that Blaise prefers to think before speaking, or to watch more than he likes to be heard (unless he has a reason to), it gives him more of a reason to notice even some of the more subtle things about people. It's just a matter of whether he can be bothered to anything with his knowledge (to which the answer more often than not is no). Loyal: If somehow, for some reason, a person could manage to ignore the fact that Blaise can be impossibly indifferent or gracefully cruel, they might every well find a... pretty good pseudo-friend. Of course, Blaise will never admit it, and it doesn't exactly mean he will put that friend above himself at all times because he has a very strong sense of self-preservation, thank you, but he could be somewhat reliable. Somewhat. Independent: Blaise relies on no one than himself. While close with his mother he is careful to keep distance, as he fears he might end up relying on her (or she him). He follows no one, he prefers to be alone and despite being a social person he would do just as well on his own. Prejudiced: He doesn't like Muggles. He doesn't like anyone involved with Muggles. He's sure they spread diseases like rodents, and he'd prefer it if the two worlds were kept very separate -- but he isn't, has never been and will never be, part of Voldemort or the Death Eater movement. His family descends form a line of informants, careful to avoid picking sides. Blaise knows what to say when in front of the right audience, but if you pay enough attention, and he’s sure no one is looking you might find him rolling his eyes at a statement he actually disagrees with. Apathetic: Blaise does not care about most other people, he does not care about their issues, he does not care about their lives, or their thoughts or their feelings. If in the mood, or the necessity to do so, he will indulge others for the sake of passing conversation and other niceties, but it is rare that he will genuinely care about something, though he will never show he does. Likes. Fashion Parties, good looking people, finer things in life, Greek beaches, French champagne), being noticed, knowing what's going on, fine art, museums (secret guilty pleasure), whipped cream and strawberries, chocolate ice cream. Dislikes. Muggles. Muggleborns. Blood traitors. Potter/The golden trio. Incompetence. Ill-fitting clothes. Poor people. Children. Animals. You. |
Secrets. Blaise is in love with Terence. He wants him, knows he can’t have him and instead decides to torture him. Blaise and Theo partner up from time to time. Theo knows how Blaise feels for Terence, Blaise knows Theo’s secret. They continue their liaisons due to the mutual destruction they can do. Gossip. Blaise’s contributions to the arts, performances, rebuilding of Diagon/Knockturn Alley are a ruse. He offers investments then controls that person through means of money. Spending so much is his way of hiding the illegal amounts of gold stashed overseas and in various locations from the goblins. Anything dark arts related. Blaise has never confirmed or denied his opinions on the matter, or any ties. Anything about his mum being a black widow. |
Blaise’s history really started with his maternal grandfather, Michael Travers. A young man of noble birth, holding a seat on the Wizengamot, fell to disgrace in the summer of 1943 after an inquiry revealed he had been passing information to Grindelwald. He hadn’t denied the findings, rather explaining he had never picked sides, but made sure he would be a pawn in the struggle for power. Striped of his position and land Michael traveled the world, stopping in Senegal when he met Awa Diob, a sorceress and daughter of a powerful warlock. The two fell in love and quickly married, though their love story did not last as Awa died in childbirth with their daughter, Adrienne. Michael continued to travel with his daughter, settling in various locations such as India, Ceylon, Australia and finally France where he married a wealthy, recently widowed witch. Adrienne attended Bauxbatons. To escape the reach of the Dark Lord, Michael moved his family to Italy. Michael worried his daughter, a half African born to a disgraced father, would have difficulty finding a suitable husband, but along came Agostino Zabini, the son of a wealthy magical port owner. Much like Michael, they had neither supported nor denounced Grindelwald or the Dark Lord. They had not cared about such power struggles, only caring about the purity of one’s blood and the amount of land and galleons in a bank account. Blaise was not even a year old when Michael was murdered and six when his father mysteriously drowned in the pool. Despite a lack of his father, however, it could never be said that Blaise never lacked a father figure. Not very long after Agostino's death, Adrienne realized she would not be able to maintain her standard of living if she did not remarry. However, the art of playing the heartbroken widow is a delicate one. She took a holiday to the south of Italy where she struck gold. Vincenzo Gabrielle was visiting the seaside village on business and fell for Adrienne almost instantly, and it wasn't long before the two married. Their marriage lasted only two years before his sudden death of what appeared to be a heart attack. By the time he was due to go to Hogwarts, Blaise had been through three stepfathers (the third a man from Spain and the current a Greek). He’d clued on to his mother’s methods after the death of Antonio, but never commented; he benefited greatly from the vast wealth she had amassed and been exposed to various cultures as well as the finer things in life. Blaise would always describe his childhood as fun and exciting. His mother loved him a great deal (taking the time to impress upon him the importance of appearance, teaching him things that most pureblood wouldn't teach their sons like moisturizing spells and other charms to keep his good looks and every possible healing spell that would stop scarring, even though he was barely ten and wasn't supposed to cast spells) The various stepfathers were attentive and doting, though he eventually became distant as he knew they wouldn’t last too long. It wasn't until he was ready to go to Hogwarts that Blaise visited England. For the first time, his mother told him about her own past, about her pureblood father and his perfect family, how they fell from grace. She wanted him to be aware before going to school, be ready for any negative comments and impressed upon him to never take sides. When he got older, he asked her why Hogwarts and not Beauxbatons. He could tell that the answer was a lot more complicated than the simple 'it felt right'. There was something about Hogwarts, some awe that children retained when they grew older, but also there was a sense of victory. They had survived, they had become rich and they were in a better situation than some of the Travers, not that Blaise ever shared that with his cousins. His mother had been right. At Hogwarts, the nasty comment were delivered with a smile. Slytherins were good at that. Blaise had never been around children and had a problem learning how to deal with them until he realized that being nasty back would make him friends. It took a few months, some pranks and threatening Draco that ensured that he became part of their little group, but unlike them he had no interest in dealing with Potter, Quidditch or politics. His mother says that he's a true Italian in that regard. He will either side with both and then support the winner at the end or he will stay out of the argument and then side with the winner at the end. Either way, he's on the winning side, which is why he never joined the Inquisitorial Squad. In his sixth year, Blaise received an invitation from Slughorn to join him for lunch on the Hogwarts Express journey. During the meeting Blaise stayed quiet as usual, more interested in observing than staying what he thought. He couldn't help the little cough of "amused skepticism" when Slughorn told the group that he thought Harry Potter had powers beyond the ordinary. Just because his mother was too smart to join Voldemort, it didn't mean that he liked Potter. Still he joined that silly Slug Club to keep tabs on other students), and then told Draco what was happening at those meeting (not much of anything, though Draco hadn’t earned the privilege of gaining Blaise’s full insights). Seventh year was horrible. Sure, they had it better than most, but Snape and the Carrows had no idea what a person needed, things like Dead Sea salt Facial Serum or caviar cuticle oil. No self-respecting wizard could live on Dark spells alone, although Blaise really like the Dark Arts, just not as much as potions, something his mother had taught him since he was a child, even if she did seem to really like poisonous ones. It was during this time his mother asked him if he would be interested in taking up the position his grandfather once held; after all, common things such a money were not as valuable as secrets and information. She reminded him of the Italian way to never side in an argument. Blaise, after careful consideration, denied; afterall, accepting this offer would be in a sense taking sides. After the war, he spent a year enjoying the world. Oh sure, his mother had money, but under Italian law, the children get the bulk of the estate so he had plenty of money of his own, plus the house. Not that it mattered. He and his mother are too close to quibble over money. No, the only real discussions were about making more money. By now she was on husband number seven, Blaise had been living off his trust and various business investments. With Pansy’s wedding on the horizon Blaise decided a return to England to see his dear friends would be in order. |
First Person Journal Entry. Such a lovely time of year for a wedding. I do look forward to the party and what is guaranteed to be a very successful union between two prominent wizarding families. I do hope for much happiness on the two of you and your children. Third Person Narrative. Blaise had never, and still was not, the sort who cared an incredible amount about his studies. While he was certainly of the opinion that making EEs and Os in his classes were a great accomplishment, there was also the fact that Blaise personally didn't find that he was all that much in need of them in order to go ahead with his plans for his future. Thanks to his mother, he had access to all the money he could ever need for a lifetime and a half and mostly thought up plans on how to increase even that – even if it meant spying on his fellow Slytherins. As it was, Blaise found that he was in need to return a book he'd borrowed earlier in the week for one of his assignments. He didn't mind overall, as the walk gave him a decent and much needed amount of time away from the common room. Sometimes, even his own housemates annoyed him, though he never let on too much to that feeling. Entering the library, Blaise headed towards Madam Pince's desk to return the book. After, he might go through the shelves for something else to borrow for a few days. Maybe if he picked something that looked suitably important, no one would talk to him for a few days. |
Other Slytherins: True, he shared a house with them, but he wasn’t exactly close. He might have sat with them when it suited him, but for the most part Blaise was very solitary. He is close as it is possible to be with Pansy and considers her his closest confidant, even if that means he doesn’t really tell her much. Terence: Blaise is secretly in love with Terence. What started out as an itch that needed to be scratched turned into a bit of an obsession. He delights in goading Terence for the simple reason he knows he will never really be able to have him. This could cause animosity amongst the Slytherins, The Weird Sisters and Terence’s friends. Job: Blaise is a socialite, he’d fund the arts and performances. Perhaps he invests in businesses as well? |
