Magical Accidents and Catastrophes / Ministry of Magic HOGWARTS HOUSE/YEARS: Hufflepuff 1991-1998 BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood MARITAL STATUS: Single SEXUALITY: Bisexual FAMILY: Hartley Bones - Father Rosa Bones (nee Cresswell) - Mother Amelia Bones - Aunt (Paternal) Edgar Bones - Uncle (Paternal) Mildred Bones (nee Diggory) - Aunt (Paternal) Hazel Bones - Cousin Miranda Bones - Cousin PERSONALITY TOP 5 STRENGTHS: + Loyal & Trustworthy - Susan is a Hufflepuff through and through. She is dependable and a firm friend, not to mention excellent to have around in a crisis. Providing you can get past all her worrying. + Caring - Affectionate and loving. Susan tries to seek out the good in everyone and anyone, regardless of their reputation. + Just - She is a very fair person, and hates injustice of any kind. + Independent - As much as Susan adores her family and friends, she has an independent streak. She enjoys being alone, and is not looking forward to the day she has to marry. She would need to find a husband who respects her need for space and privacy. + Hard worker - Susan is passionate about her career, and would love to excel and make her family proud of her. She is always determined to see things through to the very end. TOP 5 FLAWS: - Insecure - Susan has to be constantly reassured, even if it's just by herself. - People-Pleaser - Susan just likes it when everyone is happy, and will do whatever she can to make it happen. Needless to say, this is equal parts impossible and exhausting. - Worrier - She spends far too much time worrying about the what-ifs and the maybes. She even worries that she worries too much. Susan occasionally needs a good shake. Or a good drink. Whichever is more effective at the time. - Obsessive - About people, ideas, even with obsession itself. If Susan gets an idea into her head, it's hard to lose it, her crushes last for AGES, and she will not leave something alone when she knows she should...But, she sort of enjoys the ride anyway. - Easily-Led & Naive - She's just too trusting, particularly where her friends are concerned. GREATEST DESIRE/MOTIVATION: Susan's current focus is on her career. She wants to be Head of Department one day, to make something of herself. She wants her family to be proud of her, particularly her Aunt Amelia. GREATEST FEAR: Apparating. Susan won't do it anymore, not since the accident. Her confidence is thrown. She is embarrassed by this, and would love to be able to conquer her fear. ROYAL AMBITION: Susan just wants it all to be sorted out now. Too many people have been hurt, and for what? House Bones is a public supporter of House Potter. Susan thinks they're probably one of the better choices, as they claim to be advocates for fairness and blood equality. So she'll wave the Potter flag for now. Although, she wouldn't mind a Weasley rule either. HISTORY TOP 5 DEFINING MOMENTS: House Bones: Susan thinks it was a complete accident that she was born into nobility. They must have got the wrong girl. Whilst she adores her family more than words, she thinks she'd have been much happier as a commoner. She spent years being taught how to speak correctly, how to flatter royalty and how to dance in a ballroom. Years she could have spent playing outside like all the other children. Like normal children. Now that she's an adult, she tries to avoid the court scene as much as possible. That being said, she does enjoy the occasional tidbit of gossip. Providing it's not about anyone she cares about, because that's just not cool. Mother, where art thou?: When Susan was three, her mother left. She just left. It was quite the scandal at the time. Hartley claims she left him for another man, but will say no more. The true details of situation are still not entirely known to Susan, as her father doesn't like to speak of it. All she knows is that one morning her mother wasn't there anymore. Between them her Aunts Amelia and Mildred filled out the mother shaped hole in Susan's life. She considers herself lucky to have them both, but can't help question why her mother would simply leave her. Proud 'Puff: Susan is a badger through and through. Being sorted into Hufflepuff was one of the happiest days of her life. She made many good friends there, and learned some of the most important values one could ever learn. Beyond what education and conduct manuals could teach. Loyalty and friendship. The Accident: During apparation training, Susan hurt herself. Badly. She splinched herself in such a way that she lost a whole leg. Luckily, the Heads of Houses were able to reattach it and Susan made a full physical recovery. The psychological trauma lives on though, and she still has nightmares. It was this accident that steered her towards a career in the Magical Accidents department. The Affair: Susan had only been at the ministry for a few months when she caught the eye of a much older, and much higher ranking man. He was handsome, charming and intelligent. He was also married. Susan blames herself for what happened, and she knows it shouldn't have gone on as long as it did. It started out innocent enough. A coffee here, a lunch date there...things escalated too quickly and an inexperienced Susan began to lose control. They only spent a few nights together, but it was enough. Susan morality finally got the better of her and she (hesitantly) ended it. She now spends much of her time trying to hide from him at work (rather awkwardly). She still thinks of him, and this both frightens and sickens her. That is not who she wants to be. Before this, she had always prided herself on her morals and her honesty. This taught her that even good people do bad things. Which is why she tries even harder to see goodness in all the so-called 'bad' people of the world. HAPPIEST MEMORY: Graduating Hogwarts alongside her friends, with excellent grades. It's a bittersweet memory, as she misses school, but the graduation party was amazing. WORST MEMORY: Losing her leg during a botched apparation. BIGGEST SECRET: She had a brief fling with a married man. Only her closest friends know of it. She'd hate it if her family were to find out; they would be so disappointed in her. Especially since her mother supposedly left her father for someone else. WHERE ARE THEY NOW?: Susan is working in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, as part of the Magic Reversal Squad. Which she adores, it's something she feels passionate about AND she occasionally get to see her Uncle. Also she occasionally takes people to St Mungo's, where she gets to see her cousin. So it's all win, job wise. On a personal level, Susan is beginning to look into the whereabouts of her mother. She is starting to suspect that her father has warded all truth from her, as Susan's search is getting her nowhere. She does not want to push it too much, as she fears she will upset him. It's a challenge. Court life is something she's currently trying to avoid. Although it's becoming increasingly more difficult now that some of her friends are getting caught up in the drama. She may have to take the plunge for their sake and get more involved with politics. She's a supporter of House Potter, like her family. DIFFERENCE FROM CANON: Her paternal family is alive and thriving! There was no DA, so she probably won't know a few of the people she did in canon. At least not very well. PLOT IDEAS: I'd like Susan to come out of her shell a little, and get more involved with politics. Even if she doesn't want to. I want her to help her friends with their problems, and have them help her. I'd also like to see her develop some unlikely friendships. Or join/front a good cause (like fairness towards squibs, as above!), something that fits in with her job at the ministry. + General Court stuff. Susan hates the Court, but knows she has to play along in order to please everyone. + Hufflepuffs! Friendship with her fellow 'Puffs is very important to her. Particularly now. She'll loyally get involved with any shenanigans, even if she hates the idea. + Bones family! Also potential for a lot of family times. + Mother issues. Susan is currently looking into the whereabouts of her mother. I currently don't have anything written in stone as to where I would like to go with it, so there is room for development. The truth could be completely boring, or it could be completely awful. + She had a brief affair with a married man. She's trying to forget about it, though. It could come back to haunt her. She'd hate to have her good reputation ruined over something like that. + Ministry stuff. Susan works for the Ministry as do a lot of her loved ones. She's becoming worried about the Malfoy's influence over its employees. She's not past making nice and sucking up to the 'wrong' people to secure her friends and family's employment. And her own, of course. + Supporting the Potters, and all that entails. |
