not quite dead / EA / fest extensions
Happy belated Thanksgiving!

This is but a brief update. A surprising number of people have asked me about Elective Affinites lately, which is all the more amazing as I haven't updated it in months. Thank you so much for your kind words, for your encouragement! I have not given up. The whole story is outlined and is something I think about often; the actual writing is what is so time-consuming. As soon as I have a bit more time, the next chapter will be up. (On that front, I finally submitted my thesis last week, but other academic concerns have popped up unexpectedly and are overwhelming me at present. I also made myself ill in the process of finishing the thesis.)

Bad health, poor planning and academic pressure have made for an unproductive combination in other arenas as well: To my extreme embarrassment, I have had to ask for extensions for both of my fic fest contributions. And just looking at my comment backlog - not to mention the number of unanswered e-mails in my inbox - makes me feel faint.

Sincere apologies. I don't deserve your patience.

Thank you, my dear.

It's lovely just to be able to know you're out there being wonderful and writing and bringing colour into the world. ♥

I friended your journal after reading " As the wind behaves," but knew nothing about EA until yesterday. Now I'm on Ch. 2, and all I can say is it's really exquisite!! I'm so happy to have something new and so unexpected in my reading world!

(also, having finally extricated myself from grad school this past April, mangy dissertation in hand, you have my sympathies. Hang in there - it will get better.)

I highly doubt your dissertation was mangy! At some point, if you feel comfortable sharing, I'd love to know what it was about.

Also, thank you for your encouragement. It does me well. ♥

Ah, please forgive me this horribly late response! (Also, forgive me for not friending you back right away; I don't check this journal enough.) I am so pleased to meet you, and look forward to getting to know you better.

Thank you also for your extraordinary words about EA. I am so close to the text that I only ever see its glaring mistakes and roughness and inconsistencies; it's lovely to hear that you're enjoying it despite all that. ♥

You know, there's probably a mistake or flaw in there somewhere, but I'm officially besotted with the story. I just left a (mostly incoherent) love letter-cum-essay on what I love about it at AO3, but one thing I forgot to mention was your prose - beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Between the present tense and your lovely parenthetical asides, I can't think of enough good things to say.

Grad school makes you late for stuff (and I'm always just flattered when I'm friended back!) - no worries there. :)
