Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
My editor is in a strangely good mood today, and it seems to be rubbing off on everybody here. You must understand, this is a pretty unusual experience for us at the Prophet, especially lately.

He's even brought in supper for everyone here (and a good one, too!) working late, which is especially good because I've been getting pretty sick of cold take away. Plus, I've got a big break in a story I've been working on for over a month and I'll be here until who knows when. Some people think it's strange but the late nights analyzing a new angle or getting information from some new witness are my favourite part of the job.

Not too bad, all in all.

I hear it helps when bosses are in good moods.

It does. It's weird, though; it's not just him. Everyone seems rather up tonight.

Caradoc, compared with you, everyone's on Cheering Charms.

Despite what you seem to think, I am not always in a bad mood.

Although now that you mention it, there might be something to that Cheering Charm thing.

Maybe there was something in the food.

Yes, clearly someone is hatching a secret plot to make Daily Prophet staffers happy. Think I should see if we can get an Auror on the case?

I work with very cynical people. When a group of people I know fairly well, all at once, begins to act differently than normal with no clear cause, I become suspicious.

Well you ate the food, didn't you, and you don't sound particularly cheery. Only, you kind of do in the original part you wrote, I suppose. For you.

I was cheery. Cheery enough, anyway. Until you came and reminded me how uncheerful I always am, apparently. Now I am back to normal.

You're being constantly vigilant. Moody would be proud. But personally, I wouldn't be too worried. I mean what would the point of cheering up the Prophet offices even be?

I've no idea. And I'll be honest, I know this sounds ridiculous, and I'm likely being 'paranoid'.

But I don't like being charmed without my knowledge, even in an attempt to cheer me up.

That's got to be kind of nice. Better than how it is here

It is unusual.

Though, yes, I suppose it is nice also.
