PERSONALITY
Ernie, in a lot of ways is very much a stereotypical Hufflepuff. Being brought up in not just a pureblood family, but a Sacred 28 family, his family have always emphasised the importance of hard working and using one’s privilege for the betterment of all. It was part of the reason that he decided to train as a healer, to try and help as many people as humanly possible. He is extremely loyal to his friends and family, often putting their needs above even his own. He is also a fantastic listener, always ready to drop what he is doing for friends who might need him. He likes to feel needed and have a purpose, which is why he will often volunteer for extra shifts at work if his friends are busy. If he doesn't, he tends to get anxious and fidgety if left to his own devices too much.Unfortunately, for Ernie though, while he might try and see the best in everyone, they do not necessarily have his best interests in mind. This has meant that in the past he has been walked all over by those that have taken advantage of his good nature. In particular, was one previous girlfriend who regularly had him running around for her, cheated on him and caused him problems, knowing his conflict adverse nature would make him reluctant to say anything to her. Abusing his trusting nature, she blamed everyone around him in an attempt to drive a wedge between him and those that were warning him against her. It took many talks from a close personal friend, before he finally put himself first and kicked her to the kerb at long last.
HISTORY
HOGWARTS AND BEFOREGrowing up in a decidedly upper-class Pure-blooded family, Ernie was lucky enough to enjoy a childhood filled with the very best of things. Growing up on the family estate in Godrics Hollow, he had the very best tutors and spent his spare time racing the latest models of brooms around the house’s gardens. While it was all very good in a lot of ways, Ernie was very spectacularly lonely at times. It was part of why he counted down every hour until he was able to go to Hogwarts. Hearing stories of the wonderous school, it sounded almost something fascinating like something straight out of a fairy-tale.POST WARUnfortunately for Ernie though, Hogwarts was a far more interesting place then he had ever anticipated it to be. Despite making the very best friends that he could hope for in the likes of Hannah, Justin and Zach, every year seemed to bring a new horrible event for those in his school year. The third to worst event being when one of his best friends, a man he considered a brother, Justin was petrified by the Basilisk. The second worst event being the death of Cedric, a man he had come to respect and admire heavily. Then of course the worst was still to come from his fifth year onwards.
Having always had it instilled in him by his parents that he had a duty to his fellow witch and wizard, he did not think twice about joining up with Dumbledore’s Army. Yes, he had at times disagreed with Harry Potter and thought him to be a little bit of a self-righteous arse, but his goal was a noble one that Ernie could understand. Throwing himself into the training as much as anyone else, he spent every spare moment he could learning practical defensive magic that would help the cause.
While it might have been hard for him in his fifth and sixth year, his seventh year truly proved itself to be his worst by far. Not only was Justin not allowed to attend school as he was a muggle born, the once magical placed had been poisoned from within. As each week passed by, the list of rules seemed to get longer and the punishments for them only got worse. Hell, even he as a prefect found himself on the wrong side of the rules more than once, it was hard to keep up with them at the speed things changed.
As bad as things were throughout the year, they only got worse as the year progressed on, coming to a head one fateful night. He had been in the common room trying to keep some 2nd year students calm, while looking after the wounds of a 4th year when the announcement came to collect in the Great Hall. Walking to the Hall, he remembered his hands trembling under his robes as he tried to reassure the younger students and convince them to take the tunnel away from the costume. Standing shoulder to shoulder with his school mates, he is proud to say on what was a pivotal moment in history, he stood up and did his thing for his fellow witch and wizard, even if it did leave him with terrible nightmares after the event.
While Ernie had always known that he wanted to do something with his life that would help as many people as possible, he only grew more determined in this venture when the dust settled after the battle. Applying to St Mungo’s on a training program the moment he could, he was overjoyed when he was accepted, despite not technically finishing his exams. From there on in, Ernie dedicated as much of his time as possible to trying to learn the skills he needed to improve the lives of his fellow witch and wizard. Unfortunately, for him this at times meant sacrificing his social life and in the cases of a couple of rather disgruntled witches, his date nights too.It wasn’t as though he was without his doubts at times, as he very much still had them. What cemented for him that he was doing the right thing was when he heard about what had occurred in Hogsmeade, that fateful day. Being on call when the unrest kicked off, he had been one of the healers scraping up muggles and magical folk alike from the floor, attempting to keep as many of them alive as possible. While he knew he did what he could wherever possible, he is still haunted by the scene of Ginny Potter laid out on the ground a sheet carefully placed over her head.
Since that day, he has vowed to try and keep a little more balance in his life when it comes to his work life and his social life. Afterall, what point was there in defending their life, if he was not enjoying it properly?
LIKES: Bubble baths, a cold beer after a long shift, watching the Quidditch, reading by an open fire, pizza, muggle music, getting caught in the rain,
DISLIKES: Light beers, cold showers, when its too warm outside, not getting his beauty sleep, being hungry,
