Sounds like you're dealing with some difficult stuff. I don't blame you for feeling sad. Being pretty is a very subjective thing. Some people will think you are and others not so much. It just depends on the person and what they find attractive. Most importantly though is that you have a positive self-image of yourself so you'll be able to walk with your head high and see that maybe you've been the second choice many times but that won't be forever. That's something that hasn't happened yet so you can't be sure this will be your life story. I learned a technique called mood monitor in my class and what it is is you have a chart with a few categories in it. The first one is the situation, the second one is how you're feeling about it (you rate your feelings from 1-10, 10 being the highest, 1 or 0 being the lowest), your automatic thoughts about it (basically whatever comes to your head and then if you're feeling ambitious expand on it by saying "what if this thought actually does happen", the next category would be ways of seeing your thought in a more positive light, even if it's just saying "I may not have a boyfriend now but I can't predict the future or what's going to happen next." Afterwards rate your feelings again, even if they don't decrease or only decrease slightly, as long as they don't increase it's a way of helping you control your thoughts and how much they're taking over your life. It's a very involved process and difficult to do the first few times but it's something that could help you feel better if you're up for trying it. Otherwise, I hope you don't let those thoughts of "I'm not pretty" take over because they're not very productive to you and will only make you feel worse and you're more likely to do something you'll regret. So just think about it... So you're 14 or 15, right? I'm just assuming. Have you thought about babysitting or working as a life guard at a pool? Maybe even having a yard sale or making something to sell to people. Perhaps you could try and get a job at a restaurant as well. These are just ideas if you're looking for a summer job. Otherwise just take it as what it is. Good luck!
