Character Info Fandom: OC Name: Katherine Lokadóttir Age/Birthday: 22 / 13th March 2523 Species: Part-human Sexuality: Hetero
Personality:At parties, Kat had always been the one with a camera in her hand. She had been the arty one, finding a good motif in the oddest places. The one that couldn't resist to play a tune on the piano whenever she found one. Kat is passionate about the things she does and about people that are dear to her. She had always been one to push her boundaries as a kid and playfully explore how far she could go. Nowadays, the playful resistance had turned into definace which was nurtured by a lack of understanding, doubt and fear.
While she is usually a friendly and outgoing person, her usual personality is overshadowed by the emotions she is feeling right now. She does not know who she is. She doesn't know who she can trust or what she actually wants for her life. Disappointment, rage and fear were not usually emotions she felt as strongly as she does at the moment.
History:When Katherine was four the path of her future was completely changed. Her mother was killed, her father imprisoned. She grew up with Liam and Holly who raised her as her own child. Kat had been confused at first, asking about mother and father and crying in the night because of their absense. A year after they had taken her in, her foster parents had their own first boy and two years later another one followed. By the time she was seven, she had all but forgotten about her biological parents, truly accepting Liam and Holly as her mother and father. They gave her the love she needed. Holly shared her love for music with her, glad that she had a daughter and not just two boys. She learned to sing and play the piano while her brothers were out putting together their newest machine.
But she had always felt like she was treated differently. She had felt watched, had been restricted. She had believed her parents' excuse for not allowing her to learn how to fight – it wasn't for girls. They didn't want their precious daughter to get hurt. Believing them did not keep her from finding a way around her parents' wish though. Defiance had always been a part of her character. It had become stronger over the time when she felt that people reacted more harshly to her overstepping boundaries than others. Some people had seemed wary of her. For over fifteen years, she had tried to not let it get to her, tried to understand it and see what it was in her that justified the reaction she was getting. She had started to show magical abilities and even though none of her family members could use magic, it wasn't uncommon. Nothing that could give people a reason to fear her. The only thing she ever truly mastered was teleportation. She had more power inside of her but her parents discouraged her from developing it.
When she became 21, the missing piece to her puzzle was finally given to her. It had been an accident. She had come to visit her parents and overheard a conversation. Craig, one of the older people around, had been visiting his father. She heard him warning her father about her, that they weren't wary enough of her heritage and that it would show eventually. She would find out and how did they think she would react? It was only later that she had understood his laugh and it was one of the things that haunted her the most. A confrontation had followed. She had found out about her real parents, had found out the circumstances of her adoption and the whereabouts of her real father. Still caught up in a cocktail of negative emotions, she demanded to meet her father and was denied the request.
The next few days were a hazy blurr in her memory. She had cried so much, seeking solitute in her best friends. A few turned from her, some of the community now openly displayed their doubts. Others were a comfort. Liam and Holly tried to reach out to her but she told them off. She didn't want to see them. They had lied to her her whole life, cut her down for no reason other than her genes. Nonetheless, she began to doubt herself, trying to find character streaks that might be her father's. Maybe they had been right after all.
Slowly, she became obsessed with the idea of seeing her father. She wanted to confront him, to spit in his face, to demand an explanation and to hurt him as much as she felt hurt. She wanted to break into the prison, trying to convice her two best friends to help her. She didn't want them to see him but she needed their help. One told her she was barmy and that she would only get hurt, the other reluctantly agreed.
She did not succeed. It had been a rushed attempt, driven by emotions more than anything. Both of them got caught but other than a disappointed preaching there were no consequences. She was told that she had to get over it and that it was better for her not to see her father and maybe they were right. She tried to fall back into normality but things weren't the same. She didn't feel at home anymore at her parents. She even got the feeling that Liam was relieved when she started to visit less. At the same time, she started to look farther into the history of her real parents. She visited the place she would have grown up in. Went through her parents' stuff and digged out photos. She asked around and went on the internet, gathering as much information as possible.
Weeks passed and she was still unhappy. She did not know who she really was and where she belonged.
