Link. https://wow.gamepedia.com/Sylvanas_WindrSylvanas Windrunner was the second daughter born to the Windrunner family, a prominent family within the society of High Elves. At a young age, Sylvanas joined the Ranger where she made her mark as not only a skilled archer but one that the makings of raising through the ranks. She befriended Lor'themar becoming close as they trained together. It wasn't just Sylvanas' skills of being a master archer that was the talk of her people, but the fact that she was one would considered a 'rare' beauty. She had many suitors and even Prince Kael'thas sought her hand.
The High Elf rose in the ranks which she eventually was promoted into Ranger-General of Silvermoon, after a war with some trolls. That fight earned her the reputation as not only as a fearless fighter but cunning leader. Lor'themar became her second in command and together they protected their home. It was during this time when she met Nathanos Marris, the first human to ever join the ranks of Farstrider. Sylvanas allowed him to train under her after seeing his determination and the fact that she herself was for co-existance and tolerance. She promoted him to Ranger Lord despite Lor'themar and Kael'thas both fought against it. It seemed that the pressure and politics of the High Elves proved to much and Nathanos resigned after a decade and return to his home. Sylvanas would continue to visit him often.
During the second war, the Blood Elves sided with the Alliance. When the forests of Quel'Thalas began to burn, Sylvanas went to investigate and discovered both of her sisters being chased by forest trolls. She took care of the threat and when Alleria alerted that it was the Orcish horde that was burning the forest with dragon fire, Sylvanas took her Rangers to meet the horde head on. She meet up with Turalyon and joined his alliance army and together battled the horde. Eventually, after a lengthy battle, the horde left the forest. Sylvanas stayed behind to hunt down the remaining orcs.
After the war ended, Sylvanas was tasked as being the primary guards of Silvermoon. It was peaceful but it wouldn't last. Arthas Menethil, the fallen prince of Lordaeron, and Lich King, arrived in Quel'Thalas with a horde of undead. Sylvanas went on to meet him head one and demanded he turn back, Arthas did not and pressed on. She destroyed the bridge leading to the second gate to halt the attack but it provided only a slight delay. She commanded her rangers to fall back to Fairbreeze Village and had the citizens evacuated to prevent even more lose. Only her rangers remained. Eventually the undead had come.
Despite Sylvanas's best efforts she knew her own death was coming and prepared to make the last stand against Arthas and die protecting her land. The last thing Sylvanas remembers seeing was the horde of undead coming for them and in the center of it all Arthas, looking right at her.
Arthas refused to give Slyvanas a peaceful death as she was there stopping his every movements to reach the Sunwell, so instead he took her and tortured her. Then he ripped her soul out, tortured her more and made her into a Banshee. He then locked her body in an iron coffin and hid it from her. Slyvanas was under his control for a good portion of the Third War and watched helplessly as he destroyed most of her home. Eventually Slyvanas was able to break control that was held over her. She found her body and was reunited with it. Afterwards a trap laid forth, with the help of her fallen ranger sisters, and she shot Arthas with a venomous arrow. She was unable to torture him further before he was recused.
Slyvanas and the other ones that were free-willed, they realized an required an army if she was to stand a chance against Arthas. She found what she was looking for and named them the Forsaken. With a few more battles won, she eventually had control of the Capital City of Lordaeron, Arthas's home, and renamed it the UnderCity, where her people found a home underneath the city streets. There Sylvanas became known as the Banshee Queen.
Ultimately she decided that they needed more allies and sent ambassadors to both the Alliance to the Horde. The ones that went to the Alliance never returned. However, the Horde allowed Slyvanas to join the Horde and to keep their holdings in Lorderon. Still loyal to her home, Slyvanas offered assistance to her blood elven people and eventually they allowed her assistance. She was able to set up an outpost in the Quel'Thalas forest and also helped the Blood Elves to be accepted within the Horde.
During a coup in the Undercity, Slyvanas escaped and planned an immediate counter-attack with Thrall. However, more news was brought by Proudmoore stating that Wrynn had ordered an assult on the Undercity to bring Putress to justices. Sylvanas, however, returned and slew Varimanthras, retaking her throne. Thrall placed Kor'kron elites to watch over, much to Sylvanas dismay.
Afterwards Slyvanas led a horde force to the Frozen throne, to confront the Lich King and finally have revenge of what had happened to her Elven Home and her undeath. She reached the Halls of Reflection and near Frostmourne, Slyvanas felt the pain of her death over again. Uther then appeared to her warning her that the Lich King was returning and that it would be foolish to try and defeat him there, but gave a clue of where he could be defeated The Frozen Throne.
Soon aftewards, Arthas arrived and Slyvanas gave chase, but Uther's words proved true. The Lich King was too great and she was forced to flee. It was later when Sylvanas received word that the Lich King had fallen. She ventured alone to the Frozen Throne, angered that she was not there to see it happen. With her goal ended, Slyvanas thought of the warmth death she felt before Arthas tore her soul apart. That is when nine Val'kry appeared around her. Ignoring them, she tossed herself off the Frozen Throne.
Only to awake in a bed where she had been for the last several months living as she was before, alive. Now undead and her memories returned.
