Basic Information

Full Name: Draco Malfoy
Nickname: Don't be silly
Age // Birthdate: 18 // 5th June 1980
Blood: Pureblood
Wand: 10'', Hawthorn Wood, Unicorn hair core
Hogwarts House // Year of graduation Slytherin, technically 1998

Appearance

General: Reasonably tall and not exactly scrawny, Draco still strikes a rather impressive figure at first glance, though the rather cocksure way of holding himself that carried him confidently through his time at school has been replaced with a rather shrouded, compact demeanor. He frequently has dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep. He still likes to wear his robes and isn't quite convinced on muggle attire.

PB: Boyd Holbrook

Personality

General: Draco is a very private person. Of course he hasn't always been secretive about himself, but since his time working on the vanishing cabinet and the necessary secrecy surrounding his work with the Dark Lord, Draco has almost habitually been wary of sharing his thoughts or feelings with anyone. Some might take it that he just doesn't trust anyone to understand his 'important business', but it actually stems from not wanting people involved in business so as not to tar them with the same brush as himself.

He had initially closed himself off out of fear that his reluctance and terror in performing his task would get back to his master, but now it is apparent that Draco simply has a lot of trust issues, not knowing what people feel about him personally. It isn't something he has ever addressed or asked anyone he previously associated with about, and he wouldn't believe anything they said, anyway. Draco lives in a strange fear of a stigma being attached to his name, fear of being rejected for his previous family ties. He has no proof on which to base this paranoia, but it's a self-perpetuating cycle.

He probably has some degree of PTSD, but like most things, that isn't something Draco is going to admit to or look in to.

Draco is still very close to his mother and remains at his childhood home with her. His father is in Azkaban and will probably never be released, having taken full responsibility for his wife and son being involved with Voldemort. Draco tries his best to never mention his father.

Likes: Complicated potions, his mum, flying, reading dirty old books, chess, sometimes Pansy, nearly always Theodore, obsessing over Harry Potter

Dislikes: Muggle music, most people, nearly always Pansy, crowded rooms, talking about his father, fire, obsessing over Harry Potter

Hobbies: Reading. Being a social recluse. Obsessing over Harry Potter.

History

Childhood: Draco is an only child, a spoilt little beast from the moment he was born. His mother doted on him, his father raised him as his heir and pushed upon him the ideals he held so dear. Draco was sure he could do no wrong, convinced that his name would command him respect wherever he went, which proved reasonably accurate up until he went to school and that bloody Potter waltzed into his life. The bane of his existence for six years, Draco's dislike of Harry began to stem more from annoyance and jealousy than from what his father had raised him to believe about The Boy Who Lived.

Though he had more often than not lay in bed plotting Harry's downfall, the fantasies certainly didn't live up to the reality of what his father and the Dark Lord had in store for him. Fear more than loyalty to the cause drove Draco to complete his mission, fear more than belief kept him from telling anyone about his task, and even the prime opportunity of begging for help and safety when bloody Potter found him crying in the bathroom was pushed away for fear. Malfoy's didn't beg. Even for their lives. Draco was a coward, but even if he was safe his mum would have been in the firing line, to punish him. He knew so very well how it all worked.

Draco didn't graduate from Hogwarts. He spent his last year with his father and Voldemort, frightened and isolated from his friends and peers. But during his school career Draco was always a very good student, even if he wasn't going to make it look like he was trying. His parents had raised him to be a perfect little pureblood, after all, and no pureblood is poor at magic!

Adulthood:

Miscellaneous

List three random facts about your character:
1. Draco has an (almost completely) unfounded idea that everyone he meets is still judging him on the boy he was in school. He's convinced that everyone sees him as a Death Eater and simply tolerate his presence because he wasn't put away. So he doesn't go out much, or spend time with people, preferring to keep to himself and avoid the judging glares of his peers.
2. He doesn't like to open up about his feelings or anything deeper. His biggest secret is his concern about his sexuality. He wouldn't want to say it out loud, and doesn't think he will ever say it out loud, but from his time in school Draco has always rather liked boys. Not exclusively, but somewhat.
3. To this day, Draco still finds himself obsessively interested in everything Harry Potter does. Old habits die hard.

Hi! Just held Pansy and would LOVE to chat her and Draco. My Pansy is, I feel, a bit different from the usual Pansy I've seen around. Basically, quick rundown: Her father is a low-level Death Eater type who sought to up his standing in Voldemort's eyes by marrying the spinster daughter of one of Voldie's inner circle (the Travers who was with the Lestranges and tortured the Longbottoms). Daddio is Pureblooded, but Weasley impoverished and has some scandalous Spanish ancestry from his mother's side. ANYWAY, her long history is unimportant, but Pansy was brought up to believe that her only value (to her father, the Dark Lord, etc.) was to become Draco Malfoy's perfect wife. So Pansy has basically spent 18 years suppressing her true self to become someone she (her father) feels is the ideal Malfoy mate, only no one ever really checked with the Malfoys about this, lol. Before I go any further, let me say that I have no expectation that Draco feels the same (actually it works better for my Long Game if he doesn't), and I'm 100% open to discussion.

HI HI! I'm at work, so this is going to be very brief for the moment, but YES! I want them to talk, I want to work out a whole lot of backstory for them, I want him to be full of all the angst all about and over her. I think there would have been a lot of expectations on both sides for them, maybe they've had some kind of romance but it's quite forced by them both because they think they should? Lucius would probably be all in favour of Draco marrying Pansy, and Draco wants to make his daddy proud, too. Maybe they really did kind of like each other (I'm not now saying this because Barbara is hot and I want to stare at her icons and whatnot) but then Draco turned into Arrogant McShiftyface and now they don't talk- I'm very willing to play into your Long Game, absolutely. I have nothing much for him really, so we can work on something here.

I'll be home soonish, and will be a little more coherent and schemey.

I've always played it that Lucius approved, but Narcissa did not, and it's a super fun take on it. (I love the idea that Narcissa thinks Pansy is too strong willed to be a bidable wife for Draco...she might rule Lucius, but she doesn't want to compete with someone like herself, or want Draco run over by his wife...I might have a lot of Narcissa feels shhhhh).

My favorite interpretation of Draco and Pansy is that they do genuinely like each other, but are ultimately romatically incompatible. Not that Pansy would admit that at this point; she hates being wrong, and honestly she sees Draco as her quickest way to be safe and secure.

Yes, I'm down with that. And Narcissa is all on her own now, so she's going to be even more disapproving of anyone trying to take Draco from her, just in case Pansy was thinking of popping over with a cake or anything. But I get that, Draco is her precious baby boy, she won't want him to come to any kind of harm, especially if she doesn't consider Pansy's social standing to be as high as theirs.

That's perfect! I think he'll have gone his whole life assuming they were going to get married, and now suddenly he's in a place where he can do whatever he wants and marry whoever he wants, and he's used to Pansy, so they might spend a lot of time together still. He's comfortable with her and she hasn't yet admitted that they're really not romantically good with each other. She's a chunk of normalcy he'll want to cling to.
