PERSONALITY
GENTLE
At his core, Cal is a gentle soul. He keeps this part of himself locked up tight when it comes to people. However, if one gets close enough to him to venture to his home, they may see this gentle side of him beaming with his dogs. Cal tends to keep his gentle nature under wraps to keep from being taken advantage of.NEAT
Cal likes to keep himself and his home neat and tidy- almost to the point of obsession. He absolutely hates when his things get moved out of place and can't stand being dirty. The only acceptable form of "dirty" he will accept is from snuggling with his dogs.PERCEPTIVE
Not much gets past Cal no matter if he draws attention to the things he notices or not. He is very good at reading body language and noticing the little details in things. Despite being perceptive, he tends to get easily flustered in intimate situations as he prefers to be a recluse.RIGID
Cal tends to believe things should be or done a certain way. He doesn't adjust well to change and will often resist. He is also known to be a person that doesn't bend the rules. To him, things are black and white- there is no in between, no grey.
APPEARANCE

SIRE GIFTS
SWAY THE FLOCK
Influence animals within an area to behave a certain way. Cal has an almost natural bond with canines and is able to use this bond to influence their behavior with silent command.HORRID FORM
Take on a monstrous shape. Cal has the ability to use shadows and darkness to change his form from vampire to massive wolf-like monster that seems to be made of smoke and covered in red eyes. This shape feels solid to his victims. Along with this "gift", his nails can grow into sharpened claws for protection.FORGETFUL MIND
Rewrite someone's memory (with player/mod permission). Cal's vocal compulsion has the strength to attempt to shift a mortal's memory to forget things seen and heard.
HISTORY

Cal was born into a wealthy family in Chicago. He grew up never needing or wanting for anything he couldn't have. Typically this leads one to be spoiled yet Calhoun was not. He often gave to those less fortunate and in his spare time would do what he could to help the less fortunate. He had a kind soul from the beginning. His father was a very good lawyer but didn't seem to have the same morals as Calhoun did. He expected his son to follow in his footsteps to become a lawyer- which, he didn't believe he had a choice as he got older, so he did.
Cal studied law, graduated, and started practicing. He ended up catching the eye of one of Chicago's best firms and was offered a job. In an attempt to distance himself from his family, he accepted. It wouldn't be until a few years later that he was made aware that silly children's stories of monsters in the night were true. One night when he was working late, he heard a commotion coming from his boss's office. Fearing that he may be hurt, Calhoun went to check on him only to be terrified by the sight. His boss had their secretary in his lap, chunk of her neck ripped out and bleeding all over. The next few moments happened too fast for him to register- he was suddenly surrounded by darkness, blinded, then knocked out.
When he came to, he wasn't human any longer.
Cal was kept in the basement of his boss's home for many years after he was turned. The man didn't trust Cal to keep his real identity a secret and worried about him outing supernatural creatures. At first, he would have been correct. Cal didn't understand he was no longer human and would have run right to the police thinking that his boss was a murderer. He didn't understand the hollow ache of hunger that he felt or the reason why he desperately craved the taste of blood. It took Cal months to finally accept that he was no longer human. Even so, his boss didn't unchain him from the basement for many years. Stuck down in that basement, Cal was certain he would go mad well before he would be released- if he would ever be released.
Yet, just as he was losing all hope of ever being free, he was finally unchained. Satisfied with Calhoun's submission, his sire taught him everything he needed to know about being a vampire. Though he was released from his prison in the basement he wasn't completely free. His sire kept a very close eye on Calhoun.

Cal spent a great deal of time with his sire but eventually they had a falling out. Disagreeing about how soft Cal was when it came to humans. Needing a change, Cal traveled in search for a place to put down new roots. He ended up enjoying New Orleans enough to want to stay. Knowing there were other vampires out there that also needed to feed in safety, Calhoun decided to open up a nightclub called Nymphaea. The club had special back rooms where vampires could bring humans to feed safely (a sort of hidden blood den) and have their memories altered to forget the feeding. Cal monitors the vampires that frequent his business and makes sure his carefully selected vampiric staff are always monitoring the health of the mortals that leave the back rooms. Even though there are back rooms to feed directly from mortals, he also keeps a separate room in the back that has blood bags on hand. Not everyone wanted to feed directly after all.
Cal isn't hurting for money of any kind and he rather likes the quiet life and staying out of politics as much as possible. That isn't to say he couldn't be dragged into it since he is part of The Family - practically vampire royalty. Perhaps he needs someone to come into his life like a wrecking ball and shake things up. Anyone that comes to visit should be ready to be thoroughly assessed by his pack of dogs.
