Bruce felt a twinge of conscience when, in response to her leaning into him, he put his arm around her. A voice in the back of his mind said, 'too close' but part of him craved this closeness with her, for as long as it would last. As long as either of them would let it last.
"It sounds like you've found your calling," he said softly. It was gratifying to hear her talk about the good work she'd done while away with such a sense of pride. Bruce knew damn well about her other activities - the ones that were less than above board - but even those had taken a different turn of late. He had always known that Selina was, deep down, a good person. He had spent years trying to convince her that she didn't need to be a criminal, that she was better than that. Maybe she wasn't completely there yet, but Selina appeared to be well on her way to realizing for herself that what he had been telling her was true.
"You left so suddenly," Bruce segued, his eyes slowly following the curve of her neck as though he were re-familiarizing himself with every detail of her form. "I was afraid you wouldn't come back."
