Myers-Briggs: ENFP-A The Campaigner- Flint is a free spirit, outgoing, openhearted, and open-minded. Though he tends to be at home in large crowds, strangers or friends, he craves deep, meaningful and emotional connections with others. He is imaginative and enjoys exploring outdoors more than anything. He longs for the old days when he sailed the seas, pillaging and plundering for shinies to add to his hoard. His favorite part of exploring outside would be when the wind has picked up a bit- reminding him of sailing. Flint is very independent and creative, managing to get himself out of many hard spots back in the day. often ponders the deeper meaning and significance of life – even when he should be paying attention to something else. He believes that everything – and everyone – is connected, and lives for the glimmers of insight that he can gain into these connections. He is all about finding what sparks joy and will always try something at least once, if not twice, to see if it is fun.
However, due to his intuition, Flint can sometimes read too far into someone's actions or behaviors and end up stuck trying to figure them out instead of asking for clarification. This over analysis is what tends to keep him awake some nights, pondering the other individual's desires and intentions. He deeply treasures the people that have earned a spot in his heart and will go out of his way to keep them safe.
Appearance
The Dragon
In his dragon form, he is about sixteen feet tall with a long tail making him twice as long. While he is not the largest dragon in the world, he isn't the smallest either. Flint's claws and teeth are longer than most dragons in his size range and are razor sharp. His wingspan is about eighty feet tip-to-tip. Flint has a short snout and large horns protruding from the crown of his head and around the back then come together in one row all the way down his spine. His scales are a black so deep they have an iridescent shine- often throwing colors like deep greens and blues.
The Human: Then and Now
Then: Once upon a long time ago, Flint's human form roamed the seas with a long bushy salt 'n pepper beard and matching long wavy hair. Normally he could be found sporting many tattoos along his arms, wearing leather garb with one sleeve missing. He wasn't fond of classical "pirate-esque" hats and instead kept the top part of his hair pulled back neatly out of his face.
Now: Flint rotates between clean shaven and short beard nowadays. His hair is kept finely styled (though sometimes it can go a bit crazy with the curls). Flint still has the same bright brown eyes and black and white hair as the good old days. His style has somewhat changed. Instead of adorning his body in leathers like a cool biker, he is a bit more fashion forward and dresses in simple, comfortable clothing. Flint enjoys soft cotton sweaters with stripes and denim pants as well as shirts labeled as "Hawaiian" with all the colorful designs and soft fabrics.
Timeline
Pre-War
Flint was born to Isabel Bonni and Edward Hawkins in 1701. Isabel, a black dragon, and Edward, a green dragon- met aboard The Serpent's Revenge. Isabel longed to travel the seas as long as she could remember but had been unable to due to being a woman and thus, thought to be bad luck on board. Edward came into possession of the ship and needed a crew. She managed to disguise herself and join the crew in their adventures. Eventually she had been discovered but Edward had already taken a liking to her- not caring man, woman, anything in between. Flint was born when the ship had been docked at Port Royal, Jamaica. Edward temporarily gave his ship over to his quartermaster so he could stay with Isabel and their son. The two found a secluded area in which they could teach their son how to be a dragon. How to eventually shift into a human form, how to hunt, use his breath weapon, how to stay safe. Edward also taught his son everything he could about their soon to be life at sea. His parents couldn't wait to return to open water. Unfortunately, the time it would take for their son to master shifting his form and keep it for some time would take far too long. Isabel and Edward decided he would be the one to return to the ship just six years after Flint was born. Isabel continued to raise little Flint on her own. She loved him dearly and looked forward to when Edward would return for a few days every year or so.
Once when he was old enough to master changing into his human form and sustaining it for extended periods of time, his father returned to bring them both back to the ship. However, this time Isabel had become accustomed to her life on land and settled nicely into her home away from people. Edward promised to return one day after passing on The Serpent's Revenge to Flint. A promise that he followed through on after many years of teaching his son how to sail.
Upon the fearsome ship, The Serpent's Revenge, Flint proudly led his crew around the seas, pillaging ships and taking their valuables. The gold he would give to his crew- not particularly fond of it nor silver. Flint would keep the precious gemstones for his hoard. His most favorite pieces were always the pearls, opals, and polished garnet. The ship and crew were pursued by the authorities but never caught, however, the day of piracy that he loved would come to an end. When this day came, Flint disappeared from that world. He took his hoard and settled in the mid 1800's. He learned how to make use of his love of gems and precious stones by becoming a jeweler.
Flint would stay in one place for a bit then move on. Eventually, he settled in New York, continuing his work as a jeweler but now would swap out real stones for convincing looking fakes. He would do this as long as possible until someone noticed- then would disappear for a few months and reappear using a different alias.
During the War
During the war, Flint sided with the other supernatural creatures. He was tired of having to hide his true self and longed to be able to return to his dragon form as he felt. Having to do so in secrecy was never his thing even though the men he had on his crew were human. They were the only humans he had cared for and they were all dead by now. The humans he had interactions with afterward had not created any love for the species. It was the logical thing to do. Flint spent most of the war in his true form, flying around, delivering acidic blows in battles when needed. In the end, when supernaturals won, Flint was just pleased to be able to not hide anymore. He loved that he could keep his hoard and take to the skies if he felt so inclined. Though he didn't harbor any love for the humans, he didn't wish them harm once the war concluded. Being living, breathing creatures- he believed they deserved some kind of decent amount of kindness. Owning a human seemed rather odd to him and as such, never deciding to do so. Though he thought perhaps he might like the company after being on his own for so long but it was hard to trust others. He feared a human may get close, learn his weakness and steal his hoard- he couldn't have that.
Post-War
Flint continued to make his way through various jewelry shops using various aliases, assessing, cleaning, and stealing stones out of pieces of jewelry and replacing them with fakes. It got much easier as the years went on and he had saved up enough extra money to begin a new journey. He decided to start up his own business, Royal Pearl. Now, he doesn't always exchange real stones for fakes- it takes something extra special to make him take a gem these days, but with this business as his own, it is much easier for him to do so. When his fakes are challenged, he uses his best customer service charm to "make things right" and claim it was some sort of mix up.
Flint enjoys spending his time off on his boat just cruising around. If he's not on his boat then he usually wanders around dive bars, enjoying greasy foods and tasty drinks or jogging in the park (he likes to run sometimes). Flint has a few casual friends here and there but tends to be a bit of a loner unless someone really catches his eye.
