While some might expect a child who essentially was in charge of herself (or at the very least not given traditional supervision as she grew) to be mature for their age, Molly is quite the opposite. She isn't immature in the sense of stupidity or silly jokes or giggle fits, but she definitely doesn't present as an "old soul". She enjoys laughter, enjoys having fun, and definitely has a little bit of that hedonistic nature that's so stereotypical when people think of circus folk. She is impulsive, though incredibly smart to make up for her otherwise lack of control. This intelligence applies more to the common sense side of things, street smarts if you will, though she can learn fairly quickly if you can manage to get her to focus on a topic. If it's boring, though, you're almost guaranteed not to succeed.
Molly is exceptionally passionate, being loud and bold and in your face in all ways, never doing anything halfway. Unfortunately this means she can have a bit of a temper, and she can be mercurial to boot. Luckily, her anger usually ebbs quickly, though if your offense is severe enough then expect a lifelong grudge with no hope of parole. Still, Molly is a loyal friend, if not a bit grey on what the definition of loyalty actually is.

While most children might have wished for something more stable, Molly was not most children from the start. The unconventional look of her family was never something she was ashamed of or wished to change. She loved getting to travel the world with the circus, loved meeting so many interesting people and learning what she could from them. Katsumi was a contortionist and that made her a favorite among the other carnival folk in addition to the audiences. She was frequently flitting about, doing her own thing, leaving the children to occupy and look after themselves. Every member of the carnival taught them something different, from traditional schooling to tricks of the trade. Occasionally, when the mood struck her or she wasn't high, Katsumi would teach Molly how to contort her body and the young girl would then go find the acrobats and use her skills there too. She was a formidable act all on her own by the time she was thirteen, but despite loving it as a hobby, it wasn't what Molly truly wanted to do with her life.
Molly loved the circus, loved the different people that both visited and were employed there, and especially loved how it opened her eyes to all the beauty in the world; particularly when it came to people who everyone else labeled as weird. It was this beauty, this color-filled view, that led her to animation. The bearded lady had taken a shine to Molly at a young age, becoming a sort of surrogate mother to her. She was an excellent artist and had an obsession with animated films and the anime that came from Japan. She noted Molly's natural talent when it came to drawing and decided to nurture that and encourage it. It was she who suggested she apply to Mystic Veil, figuring a place where she'd be safe with others of her kind AND could learn more skills in order to get noticed by the right people was the better place for Molly to be. She was accepted, her mother not even objecting when Molly told her that she was going to go. So she went.
It was hard to transition from such freedom to a more restrictive environment, but Molly settled in fairly quickly. She made friends, excelled in classes, and built a portfolio that she knew would make it difficult for anyone to turn her away. It was also here that she met Wess Perone, a slightly adorkable young man who was not only not put off by her Baku side but who made her laugh and reminded her of the joy and freedom she'd experienced in the circus. They began dating, falling into the relationship with an ease Molly had never knew was possible. It didn't scare her, quite the opposite actually. The only fear she had was what would happen when she decided she was going to move to Los Angeles to pursue an animation career. By that time, Wess had joined with a band, and the growing fame of Burning Jade brought him to L.A. too.
Molly was offered a job at Dreamworks, which is where she met Chelsea. The two became fast friends, loving the fact that they could prattle on for hours about their different projects and knowing the other not only understood what was being said but was just as passionate about it. Things have been going well and while Molly misses her circus family, it's too hard to figure out where they are at any given time to really keep in touch or visit. She calls and texts, of course, but she hopes one day to be able to meet back up with them again to tell them all what she's been up to.
