Jin Ae belonged to a small branch of a family. Some belonged to a cult run by Malik's father. The cult seemed to pop up with each new dragon born into the family and demand them to be added to the ranks. Fearing for her child's safety, Jin Ae went into hiding.

His parents did their best to evade the cult, living in the wilderness with miles between them and the next people, Jimin had an interesting childhood. He didn't have friends, save for the wildlife he came across. The lack of socialization would eventually catch up with him making him seem a bit awkward around others that understood social rules. Until he was about ten, Jimin hadn't met anyone other than his parents. But one day a stranger found them. This stranger claimed that he was given some kind of order to bring them back. Jimin didn't know what that meant. Where were they going to go? And who were they supposed to go to?

Innocent little Jimin didn't know what happened. The next thing he knew, he was being whisked away while his father fought the stranger. He didn't see his father again after that. Over the next few years Jimin and his mother moved frequently. Jin Ae didn't let her son get too close to anyone and when he did? They would pick up and move. Thankfully Jimin was able to keep his little mini-hoard of stuffies as they moved.

They did well at evading the cult until Jimin was in his early twenties. Eventually they found them again. Jin Ae was so afraid for Jimin and his safety she turned to others that had escaped the cult- looking for anyone that could help get Jimin far away from Javad and the cult.

Jin Ae's mission to get Jimin away to safety proved successful when she heard the cult leader's son had been able to escape. Malik would be her son's ticket to safety. She took Ji-Min and basically dropped him on Malik's doorstep- giving her son strict instructions to keep close to the other dragon and not to let strangers get too close! Then, to keep up appearances that she still had her son, she left. Jin Ae went far away and continued to move around- making it seem like Ji-Min was still with her.
