to catch up:
it's spring break. i am on vacation in Las Vegas.
I was supposed to leave on Friday night, but my flight was cancelled, cutting about 18 hours off of my 4-day vacation. Sucks. I was so pissed that I couldn't do the Friday Five.
I made it to Vegas on Saturday, got my Chrystler Seabring convertible, and started up the strip toward downtown vegas, getting a voicemail from my friend Stacy who was in Vegas with her husband, calling her back, meeting them and hanging out after dinner Saturday.
Sunday found me in Horseshoe, playing poker; the afternoon was better to me than the night. In between, i ate twice (comp'd once), and drove out to Henderson and beyond, past the streetlights and into the hills, small houses all around, taking pictures of the mountains at dusk, stars beginning to shine, the lights of the Las Vegas Sprawl spread out before me.
Today, Monday, found me looking for adventure int he great outdoors. Red Rock Canyon was lame as hell and led me to drive fast and hard toward Valley of Fire State Park. It was amazing. At least a few pics of it will have to follow. Almost had a panick attack on the road when i realized that there was a sheer cliff about a foot away from my passenger-side tires on the road. Had a panick attack after walking myself out onto a very narrow stip of path with sheer drops on both sides to get a good picture. Sat down and took pics of myself with my eyes closed (though hidden behind my sunglasses). Calmed down, turned around, focused on my feet, and walked back. The park was so nice that I was outside too long and am sunburnt as hell--fits with Valley of Fire.
Went up at the Horseshoe tonight.
I am such a geek that I have a cable to hook my computer to my cell phone just so bI can go online at times like this. Very nice for posting while on vacation.
