i liked teaching high school because it reminded me of being in high school which, at the time, was the most recent set of happy memories i had.
teaching high school became increasingly uninteresting as i began to have a more stable adult life, complete with reasonably happy adult memories.
i now have a reasonably complete set of reasonably happy adult memories to supercede all of the old high school things i used to live to remember, so now teaching high school no longer has the same hold on me that it once did.
i have no idea if any of that is true, but it did occur to me sometime today.
