WRITING SAMPLES Hey Joey, it's daddy calling to wish you a happy birthday because I can't be there right now. I know I promised that I would be, but when momma and I started fighting, I had to leave, and when I had nowhere else to go, I went into space. I know how you've wanted to go out and see the stars, and if I can, I'll try and catch one for you and bring it back with me when I can. --- >>Medical Report 114: >> >>Three patients remain in critical condition after the attack. Chapel is tending to injured while many of the other nurses are preparing the dead. The current total is fourteen dead, twenty-four wounded. Unless we can salvage some supplies from the destroyed wings, there will be more deaths on my hands. Our current state is critical and I don't see it improving in the near future. >> >>End.
"You've got to be kidding me. Are you completely insane?" He shouted into the intercom. He's pressing the button down with so much force he's pretty sure it's become lodged in place. He blinked angrily a few times, releasing the button, afraid of the kinds of profanity that were rising at the back of his throat. Just then, Chapel came into his office with something in her hand, a report of some kind, and he must have sent her the nastiest look because she merely stared at him in shock for a second before immediately backing out of the room. He made a mental note to apologise to her after; she was his best nurse, the only one who seemed to handle the pressure, and his surly attitude. He sighed a bit, trying to keep himself listening to the grating voice on the intercom. He couldn't punch it again. They weren't too pleased the last time and he wasn't sure his knuckles wouldn't crack this time.
When the irritating voice stopped, he knew it was his turn to respond, though he wasn't sure if he'd be able to keep things pleasant.
"Now, you see, as a medical man, I think that is the dumbest damn idea I've ever heard." All things considered, that was pleasant for him. "Listen here. Since you've called me for my honest opinion, I'm going to give it to you. No." He barked, not pulling any punches. "No, and that's my final answer. If you think that anyone would come back from that suicide mission, you're stupider than I thought." Bones knew he was being a bit harsh, but no one on this ship didn't know that about him, and he wasn't about to give any credit to this insane mission for fear of Jim thinking it might be the only option.
