Third Person
Joey had gone to bed that night knowing that tomorrow, finally, she'd wake up and get to see her dad in person again. Video calls were okay, but it wasn't the same. She couldn't hug him through the screen; she couldn't pretend to be offended when he tousled her hair just because he knew she thought she was too old and too cool for that. It had taken her hours to fall asleep, because the anticipation of finally getting to see her dad in the flesh again was so great.
So when she woke up not in her own bed to the sound of her alarm clock — which she'd set for exactly two hours before Daddy was supposed to pick her up, because she wanted time to shower and curl her hair and make sure she had the perfect outfit that would say to him she was still his little girl, but also, she was totally a grown woman now — but, instead, slumped over a dining room table with a stranger and to the sound of a creepy voice telling her she could check out any time she liked but she could never leave, she was caught between disappointed and enraged.
"This dress is gross, for one, and for another, my Daddy will have the whole of Starfleet looking for me, you know, if you don't put me back right! now!"
