OOC: sorry fr taking so long!
There was a piece missing from Chris when Jill wasn't around. Back in the hell that was Africa, he thought Jill was nothing but a memory and he would be obligated to try and accept a new partner. Maybe another gun ho fellow like himself, or Sheva and himself would be partners for the rest of his day to day life. Every breath he took could have been his last and as time progressed that statement grew truer and truer. But Jill returned after she dealt with the hell that was Wesker. Killing him almost brought a smile to the operative's lips. He got what he deserved and even though killing a mad man seemed to be just another days work, there was much more to it. He had harmed his partner. His partner would be forever scarred due to what the man had done to her. He shuddered to think about what she endured and never thought it was appropriate to ask what she had been through.
He looked on over to Jill, a fond smile crossing his lips. They could do this. They could rebuild their relationship and try and recover from the past. It was easier said then done, especially for Jill. However, Chris admired how she pressed on aggressively to having a part in the new outbreak. Barely any time had passed since another virus plagued a different part of the world. He sure couldn't complain about it knowing what his job was. But there were days where he wished the world was just stop for a moment, or even turn back before the infection. There was no point dwelling on things that would never happen.
Then he heard Jill speak and he turned his head to her immediately. There was a saddened expression painted across his face. He felt helpless since no matter what, the events that unfolded could not have been prevented. ."It adds character," he teased before his eyes focused on the road, the terrain growing rougher and rougher. Gusts of sand almost near blinded Chris in knowing where he was going. "Jill...I know it's been hard, I do. I don't want to join the chorus of people believing you should have taken more time off, but are you sure you're ready? I couldn't stand you getting hurt out here. I know you cant take care of yourself, but I've got your back." The statement couldn't have bee any truer. "The scar is just a bad memory. You don't have to allow yourself to be stuck within that scar." He may not have always been the best for comfort, but he tried.
