To say that she'd been busy was an understatement. She wished she could blame it all on work but unfortunately that hadn't been the case. Sure work was a big part of it but it was something that she loved about her job; that it kept her busy and kept her mind from wandering about that new pair of Gucchi heels that would like great with that little black dress from Macy's. It kept her mind from wandering to tall, handsome, non Hindu football players with hearts as big as them and puppy dog eyes that made her mind go to mush. No work hadn't been the problem it had been her family. Her parents may not have loved her lack of practice in the religion but they accepted it. However they didn't except that she was in her thirties and divorced. Divorce was a sin all in its own. They kept trying to set her up with "nice Hindu" boys that she had no interest in. Normally she could dodge them pretty easily that was until her mom had started giving out her cell phone number. She'd been on a series of horrible dates and had been finding ways to dodge them every which way to New Years. Was it so hard to believe that she was fine the way she was? A strong bad ass chick in the big city? Besides half the horrible dates ended in why she didn't practice the religion and the other with the fact she could stand to lose a few pounds, oh and who could forget the ones that love a bbw. God no, damn stereo types. She'd been trying to figure out how to dodge yet another bad date when she'd gotten Joel's text and she'd jumped on it; maybe a bit too eagerly.
It wasn't all that it got her out of another bad date. He oozed all American male essence and being around him a woman would be stupid not to notice that. He was attractive and he genuinely seemed to care about the people around him. Since Issac had been diagnosed she'd don't everything she could to make his dreams come true and Joel was helping with that and it meant more to her than he knew. Issac was a good kid and he had an amazing set of foster parents now but the costs of the treatments were training on them. Since this was an attractive and single guy she had to make sure to look her best. She wasn't interested in dating or even sex at this point in her life but if she was he would fit perfect. She finally decided on a dress that she hadn't gotten the chance to wear yet and a pair of purple shoes that she adored and had to remind herself after finishing up her hair and make up that this work related and the butterflies in her stomach weren't needed. She read the address to the cab driver and once she got out and paid him gave the place a once over. It was nice from what she could tell and she was excited to give it a try. She stepped inside and glanced around spotting him after a moment, a smile on her face as she headed over to him and awkwardly hugged him back. God the man smelled so good. Had she remembered to put on her perfume? shit. He pulled out her chair and she tucked her purse away after she sat and glanced at him and shook her head slightly. "Honestly you got me out of an engagement I didn't really want to go too. Got set up with someone who my mother is confident is perfect for me but eh I'm not big on going to temple for a date." She may as well be honest, no point in bull shitting. "I'm sorry it took so long to set this up. Life has just been insane but we can get the details set up, I'm sure you have somewhere to be."
