AU: Everything from Pacific Rim is canon but everyone is gender flipped.

The world of the first film is the same beyond the gender swaps. But Nikki's working relationships have some differences. She and R!63 Hermann are still at each others necks through the first film but eventually see they are drift compatible, turns out they fight via verbal sparring over actual combat. She is vibrant and wild but a happy go lucky wild, a 180 from Hermann's controlled nature. She also is out to break the mold by not being seen as a "nerd": just look at her wardrobe, taste in music and arm sleeves of kaiju as proof! But her smarts shine just as brightly as her smile, she does drift via a rig made from parts after all. She also stands up to Hannibal and gets the brain she is rightfully owed.

Plus with the PPDC being almost all female minus R!63 Mako and a few other major players things run much faster in terms of decision making. But all are seen as equals too, the Marshal makes sure of that,
