Marek knew that she had a point, though he was loath to admit it. Neither of them had been doing very well with pleasing either side of this so far, they were both stuck in the middle and trying to figure out their way through it. At least, that was what had happened for him; the way she was describing her own situation sounded worse than he'd even really realized.
"You want us to be on opposite sides," he said, disbelief evident in his tone. More at the fact that she actually thought it would work than at the idea itself, though. "So that either way, one of us gets through, and can save the other?"
It was a half-decent strategy, he had to admit. That didn't mean he liked it. His inclination was to side with his twin against everything, not act as her enemy in order to save her if need be. He gave her a level look, eyes narrow. "That might put me in the firing line for your lot, you know."
What he needed to do to prove to his housemates that he disapproved of Melinda was one thing, but if their situations were reversed, her task would be very different.
