"I don't have a lot right now," she said irritably. "Look, I'm not...I'm not thinking about getting through," she said, though it occurred to her that maybe she should be. "I'm alone right now and I don't want anyone else to be there with me. I don't even..." she trailed off, turning forward in her seat again, still looking irritable. She'd been about to say she didn't even know why she was bothering. There was no way she'd convince Callum to abandon her, and she didn't think her chances were much better with Marek, unless she could convince him it was best.
Actually. "Look, I love you and everything," she said, letting an edge of disdain creep into her voice. "But I know what to do and how to get myself safe. I've been dealing with Slytherins more than you have. I don't know how to do it with you underfoot. You'll just mess me up." She shot him a look that was aiming for trying-to-hide-annoyance, actually checking his expression to see if this was working. Maybe, just maybe, pissing him off would do it. She'd hate to do it and it would hurt them both but if it was the only way to make this work and keep him safe, she'd do it.
