We want to, have to, need you. FULL NAME: Melinda Artemis Bobbin AGE: 20 DATE OF BIRTH: May 10, 1981 BLOODLINE: pureblood HOUSE: Ravenclaw '99 WAND: HOME TOWN: London HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5'9/150 EYE COLOR: blue ZODIAC: In some ways, this seems almost a contradiction. A head-in-the-clouds, theoretically-oriented Ravenclaw, born under the pragmatic, materialistic sign of Taurus? However, a surprising number of philosophers (including Socrates) have been Taureans. The intellectual Taurus is gifted not only with prodigious mental capacity, but also the sensible logic, determination, and assurance to see a theorem through from start to finish. Ravenclaws born under this sign make excellent magical researchers and are gifted with the unusual capacity to write sensibly and fluently about their results and interpretations of experiments. Because Taurus is a patient sign, and good at communication, many Ravenclaw Taureans eventually end up teaching at Hogwarts.

Big shot screaming "put your hands in the sky," he says "give it up, boy, give it up or you're gonna die." Melinda is definitely a Slytherclaw. Melinda always had high marks in school and can call up relatively random knowledge with ease, but she's pretty much a hardcore purist and will frequently try to manipulate people and situations to her own ends. She's intelligent and believes all knowledge is worth having, and she's never lost her childhood curiosity and desire to learn. However, she also has a desire for power, a huge competitive streak (possibly the result of being a twin?) and no shortage of ambition and cunning. She even has some Gryffindor in her -- passionate and hotheaded, Melinda Melinda can certainly be warm and loving with friends, family, and loved ones, and she tends to be rather free with her affection -- calling people "love" and "sweetheart" casually. She may even squee to her friends over simple things like meeting a boyfriend's parents. When it comes to a more concerted expression of emotion, however, Melinda clams up, mostly out of shyness. Partly, however, this is Melinda trying to deny her emotional nature, as she is a control freak and getting too emotional has gotten her into trouble before. Which is not to say she's a love-everyone bleeding heart. While she's free with her love, she's very selective about who gets it. There are times when she's an absolute cold bitch. Just being Muggleborn is enough to earn her derision, but fuck with her or hers, and she will show you no mercy, and she's been known to summon bigger fish without hesitation. She can do a lot of damage when she really turns her wrath on someone. She wouldn't make a good leader (too emotional and chaotic), but she'd do well as a Bellatrix-style trusted lieutenant. Melinda is slowly but surely building a solid reputation as a seriously scary bitch. Skilled and powerful, along with unpredictable and zealous, totally devoted to her cause. Her parents do not keep to the old ways and her name is not the best, but it's only motivated her to rise above all that. Melinda avoids having overmuch contact with strangers. When she must interact with them, she tends to be cool but professional and get whatever reason she has for talking to you out of the way quickly. Melinda can be tough to get to know for new people because it takes her a long time to get comfortable enough with someone to get over her shyness. It's easier with people she knew once but has fallen out of contact with. She also has an easier time with people if her brother is nearby. She has an easier time with a lot of things when her brother is nearby really and she's not sure what she'd do if he died or something. Basically, Melinda is very quiet and shy, naive in certain ways (it's clear, if you interact with her long enough, that she is mentally still a teenager), and she can be impulsive. However, she's smart, devoted, and her passion and emotion serve her well in the right situation. she is definitely not to be trifled with and The Resistance could have their hands full with Melinda.
…HISTORY; | ||||
I wonder when they'll come get me. Michael Bobbin and Leandra Yaxley met in 1974 when Michael, filling in for a shop assistant, took a delivery from Leandra, filling in for a delivery wizard. They hit it off immediately and Michael found himself going out to "inspect" the nursery for no real reason, looking for Leandra. They married in 1976 and welcomed their first daughter, Marina Aphrodite, the next year and then twins, Melinda and Marek, in 1981. Melinda and Malcolm were very close in childhood and Melinda absolutely hated to be separated from him for any appreciable length of time, very much in contrast to Melinda's relationship with her older sister. Being so far apart, Melinda and Marina did not have any fierce rivalry nor any great love for each other. By the time Melinda was old enough to really vie for her sister's attention, Marina was off at Hogwarts. Leandra stopped working when she had the twins to stay at home and homeschool them in the basics -- reading, writing, math, et cetera. Melinda is definitely a reader, and there was an unforgettable period of several months where Melinda loved to read, but couldn't do it very well yet, always running up with a book pointing to the page and going "Mummy, what's this word?" She learned quickly, though, once she knew enough to sound things out, and she was reading thick classic novels by the age of eight. Seeing what happened when she put in what seemed like a very small amount of effort, Melinda began to wonder what would happen when she really applied herself. As a result, she worked through every page in every Muggle lesson book she was given up to grade six years before it was time for Hogwarts. Knowing early admission could not be granted, Melinda's mother began to teach her magical theory and other things she didn't need a wand for, particularly herbology. Leandra asked Marina questions about what she was learning in school so that her lessons to Melinda wouldn't overlap too much, and Melinda ate up the knowledge she was given. Because her mother brought her along so well, she has never lost her childhood curiosity and love of learning. Melinda was sorted into Ravenclaw, but drawn to her pureblood, purist, Slytherin peers. Melinda had never considered purism, not really, but her group of friends at Hogwarts definitely put the idea in her head and cemented it there -- there was little to counteract it, as before Melinda's fifth year, there was no real reason to talk about it, so loner Melinda was largely left alone by her housemates. Marek, on the other hand, was Sorted into Hufflepuff. Melinda cried her first night because her brother wasn't nearby, it being one of about five nights in her life she hadn't spent less than twenty feet away from him. They spent time together in the library as often as possible and slowly made the adjustment, but Melinda still has a sneaky hate for that stupid Sorting Hat. Melinda's fifth year, she made prefect, and then Dumbledore was promptly murdered by Draco Malfoy. Melinda went under the potion with everyone else, but in a safer, friendly environment where her enemies were silenced, her purist leanings showed and with nothing to stop it, they flourished. Apart from taking points from Marek for things like "BEING A PRAT" Melinda was a model prefect, and became Head Girl her seventh year. Soon after graduation, Melinda expressed at one of her check-ins that she would like to work for the cause, and was taken off the potion. She explained her strengths and weaknesses, in terms of personality and in combat, including being extremely strong in dueling for a recent Hogwarts graduate, as well as able to produce Unforgiveables without trouble, also an uncommon skill for recent graduates. She took the Mark a couple of weeks later and received her job in the Committee of Experimental Charms, partly as a reward and partly because there wasn't yet a loyal plant in the department. Melinda finds the work interesting and fun, and her hours are regular and easy to keep -- except when she's summoned by the Dark Lord, a duty she finds even more satisfying.

You'll get a bullet in the back of the neck. ~She gets ridiculously happy when men, even family members, buy her jewelry. ~Has a tattoo somewhere, but no one, including Marek, has seen it that they knew of. ~She's pretty convinced that she and her brother are psychic, and will occasionally tell him "I can hear you" and tap her temple, especially if he's being reticent about something. ~One of her first acts as a Death Eater was to vouch for Marek to go off the potion. ~Spelling and grammar nazi. These things drive her absolutely crazy. ~She can only tilt her head about halfway as far to the left as she can to the right, essentially a compression injury from being wedged against her brother in the womb. She can turn it normally and this basically doesn't affect her life at all except as an odd curiosity. RELATIONSHIPS: Marek Bobbin: Marek is Melinda's twin brother. She loves him more than anyone else, and if she's loyal to anyone other than herself, it's only to him (not that she is disloyal to the Dark Lord, but if for some reason she had to choose, Marek wins every time). They get extremely competitive, always trying to best each other, but he's her best friend and always the first one she goes to anytime anything happens. Melinda would sacrifice anything if it meant not losing him. Ella Svetkova: Ella and Melinda understand each other. Both Death Eaters, these are the pair you send in when you really don't care if someone lives or dies; they're kindof the definition of Not Fucking Around. Melinda also sees Ella as something of a big sister. She trusts Ella and she knows that when they're out there fighting for the Dark Lord, Ella's got her back and she has Ella's. Pansy Parkinson, Shane Fawcett, Fletcher Parkinson: These three are kindof Melinda's "girlfriends," the ones she drinks with and gets advice from on things like relationships and clothing. Millicent Bulstrode: This is a pretty classical brains and brawn pairing. Melinda is generally much more subtle than Millicent so they don't socialize every day, but they enjoy hunting together. If Melinda feels like a spot of gratuitous violence, she'll find Millie. Zacharias Smith, Gilbert Wimple: These are Melinda's coworkers in the Committee for Experimental Charms. She respects both of them as intelligent men and will consider their opinions on her work, but as shy as she is, she doesn't talk to either of them much outside the office. Alec Harper: Melinda and Alec have technically known each other since infancy, from two rich pureblood families that grew up near each other, but they never really took notice of each other until puberty. Yes, it is for exactly the reason that sounds like, and they just might hold the record for most sex had within Hogwarts castle. They have a friends with benefits situation, but they're not really just using each other for sex; their personalities match well and they genuinely like each other as friends. If there's ever something Melinda needs a straight man's opinion on that she doesn't want to ask her brother (which generally means it will be related to sex), she talks to Alec. They're comfortable in this arrangement and in seeing other people, as neither of them really do that whole commitment thing.
