AU Background Information
Basch comes from one alternate reality to the events of Final Fantasy XII. In effect, the mechanics of the alternate universe allow events in the character's lives to repeat, with time moving around, back and forth, causing the characters to experience variations on their life's events, though they aren't aware of it. In Basch's current version of reality, during his time as a prisoner, framed for treason and Kingslaying he was not a part of, his twin, Noah, now known as Gabranth, developed a conscience and began treating his brother more humanely while he was a prisoner.

Eventually, though Basch was very confused about all of this, he found that he was given the opportunity to escape his position, and took the chance at freedom, leaving his brother behind for the moment, and certainly never expecting that their next meeting, if they had one, would be anything other than a terse affair.

And then Noah was blamed and arrested, leaving Basch to wrestle with his conscience, which told him one thing, and his head, which told him quite another. Now the disgraced knight had a choice to make.
