PERSONALITY
Most women are transformed by motherhood. They find the experience life-altering. They relish the opportunity to nurture and to give and to be a part of something larger than themselves...Meaghan McCormack is not most women. Don’t misunderstand. She loves Ember, and while yes, there are times it would be a lot easier to not have a daughter around (like when you’re an international Quidditch star and spend weeks at a time away from your own home), she doesn’t regret the choices that led her to having a daughter. She just...doesn’t embrace the experience like other women might.
Meaghan is a very “in the moment” kind of person. She doesn’t think ahead, she doesn’t plan past her next match date and she very much likes to see where life takes her. Having a baby cramps that style quite a bit. If it weren’t for her parents helping out with things, she’d probably have forgotten Ember somewhere along the way. She is incredibly selfish and headstrong and doesn’t always consider how her actions affect those her around her.
Fearless and fierce both come to mind when thinking about Meaghan. She is a risk taker and doesn’t seem overly concerned with her own self-preservation. She is unafraid to accept any dare or challenge and dives into things head first. She doesn’t give herself time to second guess or think things through. These behaviors are probably what led to an unplanned pregnancy, but in addition to being short-sighted, she’s also stubborn, so changing her ways is a bit trickier than that.
She has a bit of a temper on her, but doesn’t really hold a grudge, unless you’ve done something extreme to lose her trust or respect. She’s the type of girl who’ll throw a drink in your face one minute and pay for the following round the next. She’s fairly emotionally driven and she lets her whole self be consumed by them, for better or for worse.

Meaghan knew she wanted to be a professional Quidditch player since...well birth, probably. Her mother, Catriona, was incredible to watch on a broom and Meaghan grew up in awe of the woman. Her father, Ian, was less thrilled with her ambitions, knowing how hard it was to have a normal life when you were travelling constantly and always in the press, but his cautionary words fell on deaf ears as Meaghan strolled off to trials.
Her mother being a former player for the Pride and her childhood home in Portree made the choice a bit obvious for her. She wanted to make a name for herself, but she also felt a strong sense of loyalty to the team, who had helped to raise her. She made the reserves, and stayed there for a few years before finally getting bumped up to a starting position.
The press loved her if only because she was always up to something ridiculous. Barfights, poor lovelife choices, her connection to the Weird Sisters...it made for an interesting and sellable narrative. There was hardly a week that went by without her name somewhere in the paper or in some magazine or other. The press nearly cost her her starting position more than once. When the news of her pregnancy broke, they had a field day and Meaghan was sure she’d finally screwed up for good. She remained adamant about keeping the father’s name a secret. So much so, that she never informed the bloke in question of the news. She wasn’t exactly looking for a relationship with him, and she didn’t need to drag her baby into the mess she’d created. Catriona and Ian agreed to help her out with everything and so she didn’t feel the need to go making things any more complicated than they already were. It hadn’t been a particularly easy task, but she managed to leak to the papers that the father was a muggle from a rock show she’d attended around the same time and that was the story that was published, though officially she never confirmed or denied that story.
Meaghan went back to the team as soon as she was cleared medically and has been bouncing between motherhood and quidditch for the better part of six years ever since. She’s decidedly a bit less of a party girl when she’s home, but on the road is usually a different story. Now that Ember is getting a bit older, she’s been taken on a few of the team’s roadtrips, but the girl is endlessly curious and not overly concerned with rules so it does make for a tricky time.
