BRIEF DESCRIPTION
"Family are the people that you fight for, and those willing to fight for you." Those words, who Klaus told Marcel before he left to fight in WWI as he tried desperately for Marcel not to leave, Marcel takes very seriously. He takes the meaning of family and their loyalty very seriously. He wouldn't be the leader he is if he didn't take care of his family. Fear would get you no respect, love will.
Ever since he was a little kid, Marcel showed a great sense of bravery when as a salve he foughyt against his father when he was whiping him. That bravery has stuck with him as he grew up and ultimately led him to become a vampire when he faced his father when he wouldn't stop beating the slaves. It's that bravery that makes him one of the very few people who can speak to Klaus defiantly.
Marcel is a natural leader. He has a presence that can be sense whenever he walks into a room. His speeches, even if difficult times, make his vampires or whoever he's talking to, feel empowered. He's a good politician, having managed to keep the peace at the French Quarter and not letting humans know they exist while he was king of the city; or how he used guerrilla warfare tactics to make sure Elijah wouldn't get any peace between the fractions while the Mikaelsons took his power over the city; or how he made sure everyone understood New Orleans wasn't their home anymore and had to leave. He enforces his rules and follows them without fail, even if that meant sending his right-hand man Thierry to The Garden. But it's all those above mixed with his sense of family and loyalty are what make him be a great leader with a loyal following.
There is no lie that Marcel likes to be center of attention and the life of the party, as when he was king of the city. He takes pride on who he is and likes to show it.
Marcel can be ruthless sometimes, killing witches who performed magic at The Quarter or sending his right-hand man to 100 yeards in The Garden, where other vampires were suffering the punishment of having killed one of their own. But rules are rules and they must be followed, no matter what it takes. But even then he can show signs of mercy, choosing to kill in a less painful way than others. Sometimes.
