JONAH LOVEL

Jonah was bored the second son of three; the first being Jesse and the younger being Jack. He doesn't remember this time of his life at all. He doesn't remember his family, his brothers or his parents. He doesn't remember the war, the attack or being separated from his family. He doesn't remember what happened or that his brothers think that he died. He has no idea that his brothers found the Legend pack. Hell, sure, he heard of the Legend pack but he couldn't care less about them. They aren't his pack. As far as he knows he's very alone in this world.

Jonah's earliest memories are being in a literal animal shelter. He was in his wolf form, he knew that, and he had bars all around him. He remembers being cold and hungry. He remembers feeling very alone. He remembers whining until someone came, wearing thick leather gloves, putting a muzzle on Jonah and petting his head, telling him to be a good boy.

Jonah remembers someone putting a collar on him, petting the top of his head and telling him to be a good boy. He remembers that collar meant that he belonged to someone, even though he doesn't remember who. Or maybe it meant he belonged to something, something that wasn't just him. Either way, the collar stayed on.

The next few years, Jonah was passed around from shelter to slaver to shelter to, finally, a foster family. Donna and David took children who were "misplaced" during the war. They tried to find some history on where Jonah had come from but he had moved all over at that point and he didn't really remember where he originally came from. That was fine, they would make sure Jonah knew how to balance his "animal" side versus how to be human. From those years of being passed around, Jonah had a difficult relationship with his wolf. There were places that kept him as a wolf, forcing him to remain as such. He feared that when he shifted that he wouldn't be able to unshift. It took a long time for Jonah to learn that his wolf was a safe place and he could be as comfortable in fur as he was in skin.

In high school, Jonah befriended several guys and they began to play music together. Jonah loved it. He loved screaming into the microphone. He loved the stage and singing fans. He loved jumping into the mosh pit with them and getting back on stage, feeling beaten up. The band was going places; getting steady tours and even had one of their songs on the radio. They were making it; they may not be a household name but they had some fame. But with touring and fame, came bad decisions but, hey, sex, drug and rock-and-roll was all a part of the package, right? Then their drummer overdosed. It was a long scary night at the hospital. The drummer lived but it gave the entire band pause. The drummer was going to go into rehab and the band paused. There was talk of getting a replacement drummer, which they did to finish out their tour, but it didn't feel the same. There was a hollowness that existed. Once the drummer was out of rehab, he decided not to return to the band. Despite the desire to keep going, it didn't feel the same and the band broke up.

Jonah moved to New York City, deciding to take a break from the music scene. It had been a ride but it seemed like that ride was over and it was time to figure out what else was out there. New York City seemed like the safest place to go to keep in touch with others and have a place to run once a month. Jonah doesn't like to see himself as aimless; but perhaps he is. He is no closer to finding his pack. He is no closer to finding a career. Working at a bar, living in a house, renting a room with a bunch of others, it really isn't the all of life. Sure, he's having a blast but he knows he's missing something.

When the earthquake happened, Jonah was lucky. He wasn't far from home, which wasn't too damaged in the shakes and rumbles, so he was able to return home. He had to get a new job, as his last place was kind of crumbled but, hey, that was the spice of life, right?
