Canon puncturing is when you tell a fictional character that they're, well, fictional. When we roleplay, we're effectively entering the 'fourth wall'. Who do we know in the fictional world that regularly punches holes in his section of this wall? DEADPOOL. He talks to the reader, he talks to his speech bubbles, he's well-aware that he's fictional and punctures his own canon constantly.
Myron Wagtail is a canon (but extremely minor) fictional character from the Harry Potter series written by JK Rowling, we already know this. But our characters, especially your character, are 'real' in this fourth wall environment of ours. Which of course, because I use Gerard Way as Myron's face, also erases the existence of My Chemical Romance. And because I cast Jarvis Cocker (of Pulp) as Myron's father Kieran, that erases Pulp's existence.
Now, I'm not a songwriter or a poet by any means. So if I'm saying Myron is writing down "new song lyrics" in the stream, I'm probably using lyrics from a real, already-existing song I think is ambiguous enough to fit for 'The Weird Sisters' material. So, consider this a disclaimer basically. This might include stuff from My Chem, this might include Arctic Monkeys material. 'Covered' songs like Common People or Desolation Row will remain just that - covered songs from the respective 'muggle rock' bands. Myron might be a wizard but he'll recognize musical talent in the muggle world when he sees it. Besides, muggle rock has some bangers.
Myron lives two miles away from Charing Cross road, in Westminster. His flat is five stories (one below, four above ground). His home is very similar to 12 Grimmauld Place, given it is a terraced apartment. He protects his privacy and lifestyle in the same way 12 Grimmauld Place is - it's masked to the muggle eye by a series of protective charms. Wizards and witches will be able to see his place. The only muggles that are really allowed in his home are his bandmate Donaghan Tremlett's parents, since Donaghan is a muggle-born.
TVD / TO / Legacies - Not likely that they would know about Myron's world. Damon Salvatore (at least, on the TV show) has read Twilight and the Anne Rice books. It's safe to assume he's also read the Harry Potter series.
The Mortal Instruments - I know very little about this verse as I haven't read all the books yet and I've not caught up yet with the tv show. I think I've seen to the end of season 2 and kind of stopped there. However, for crossover's sake, mundanes don't know about the wizarding world. Downworlders, Shadowhunters, the Clave - yeah, they probably know about the Ministry of Magic, MACUSA, Hogwarts, all of that. I imagine the Clave would likely leave the Ministry to their business. They do their job at concealing their world from "mundanes" so there's no reason to worry.
Meta-gaming is best explained this way - your character is a human. They have no special abilities at all, such as mind-reading.
My character has a thought of some sort, never verbally expressed, and your character reacts to that thought in some way or another, whether it be a physical action or a verbal statement.
It's applying OOC knowledge to an IC interaction when it isn't appropriate or realistic to do so. It goes somewhat along the lines of canon-puncturing.
Unless your character is clairvoyant, psychic, or has some sort of telepathy, your character can only react to what they can see and/or hear. they cannot react to subconscious thoughts.
Reacting to body language and interpreting social cues? That's okay.
It's all just common sense, really.
