CHARACTER TRAITS / PERSONALITY
As a child, Ben was very shy. He found it hard to make friends, especially after he moved to Derry with his mom and had to join a new school. He was overweight, he was quiet and he worked hard in all his classes. Hell, his favorite place to be was the local library, so it was little wonder that he quickly became a magnet for assholes like Henry Bowers, Belch Huggins, Victor Criss and Patrick Hocksetter. It was only really as school was ending for the summer vacation that he started making friends. First of all, Beverly Marsh, the girl of his dreams spoke to him and even signed his yearbook, and then later that day, he got to meet Bill Denbrough, Stan Uris, Eddie Kasprak and Richie Tozier. When Mike Hanlon showed up and there were finally seven of them, everything was great and they all quickly became his best friends. His only friends, really, but he loved them all fiercely. Enough that he got into fights alongside them, went into the house on Neibolt Street with them, fought that god-damned clown alongside them. He still loves them, even after 27 years and a bizarre case of amnesia so complete and so subtle that he didn't even know he'd forgotten anything.
He's not so shy any more. Hell, he runs his own architecture business and he's damn good at it too. Awards all over his office walls, designs that would have made Tom Wright and Renzo Piano jealous, a client list that reads like a who's who of Important People and the requisite arguments over whether his work is that of a genius or a madman. But he's still quiet and reserved, and up until recently, he's been so damned lonely. That weird case of amnesia went away with Mike's phone call, though, and it brought back his best friends. Well, most of them. And it brought back Bev, who he'd never really forgotten, not really. Not deep down where it counted. Not with her yearbook autograph in his wallet, somehow giving him both inspiration and encouragement throughout the years even though he wasn't exactly sure who "Beverly Marsh" was, or why she'd drawn two hearts for him.
He's incredibly intelligent. Obviously, he's a brilliant and successful architect, but even when he was younger, he would do research projects for fun. He researched Derry's history, collated statistics, trawled through very old newspaper articles and boring history books, and he did this for himself. Most kids contented themselves with dinosaurs or ancient Egypt or something like that, but no, Ben dove head-first into "Murders in Derry throughout the ages".
Ben is incredibly resourceful, able to turn his hand to pretty much anything if it involves building, and to do it well. He is incapable of doing something half-assed, it seems. Hell, the underground clubhouse he built as a child was still there, still usable 27 years later. He has an almost-instinctive knowledge of how things work and go together, which is how he can design buildings like he does - if he can't see how it goes together, then it can't be done.

POWERS/ABILITIES
ABILITIES:
Ben can "see" how things go together. He instinctively knows how to build things so that they'll last, and they won't fall over. This instinctive knowledge doesn't extend itself to things like engines or circuits, although if he did his research and put in a few hours of practicing, he'd learn that sort of stuff as well.
Following on from that, he is perfectly capable of designing and building houses, and all kinds of DIY. From breaking ground for the foundations through acting as a bricklayer, plumber, electrician, plasterer, painter and decorator, the works. He likes to get involved with his buildings and learn from the people on the ground.
He's an architect. He's a skilled draftsman and model-maker. He's good at drawing as well, but not as a hobby.
He's excellent at researching, whether it's to see what sort of building would suit certain areas, or to discover exactly why horrific accidents occur every twenty-seven years in a small town in Maine. He can pull data from all manner of sources and draw correct conclusions from his findings.
He can sail a boat.
