I cannot allow myself too much hope. Five months is absolutely nothing compared to what we have endured before. But she is pregnant. And if she is pregnant, perhaps a son - Truly there is nothing I would not do to make it so. Unfortunately there is little I can do but allow time.

She must rest, and have the proper food, healers, potions - I must see that she is taken care of these next few months and that there is no activity that is too strenuous. We will not lose this child.

[Warded to Lucia]
I know that Prisca and Tullia enjoyed the theatre tremendously. Thank you for arranging it.

How frequently are you having the healer come in? I want you to rest and keep your activity and chores to a minimum the next few weeks. I know there is the school project, but much of that you should be able to do from home. I want nothing to keep you or our child from health in the next few weeks. And you are to have anything the Healer recommends - do not worry about inconvenience or cost. I realise that this may count as a production, but I do not wish anything to happen to you ma cherie.

There has been much chatter about the choices made on the new ID cards, and I have yet to determine precisely why the focus is on one insignificant object over another. In truth, if the purpose of the ID is to have a photo and a name, to essentially identify an individual so that there is no incident such as the one earlier in the month, one must wonder why any of the items outside of name and photo and possibly current residence are necessary. I think if we quibble over what is essential and what is not, we open up a debate that may go on indefinitely and in the meantime, the problem at hand is not solved.

The Wizengamot needed to make a decision in a timely fashion and they have made one. Does that mean we must all agree with every element? Certainly not. But I do believe that the action itself - the ID card - will improve efficiency for our Aurors and our hitwizards, as well as others in the government who work with large numbers of our population and for that I am grateful. These men and women work tirelessly to serve our country and if this will make their jobs a bit easier I believe it is a good thing.

Improve efficiency for the Aurors? Maybe but I doubt it. Personally I think it looks like it's going to make more work for us and useless work at that.

I mean seriously, arresting someone for not carrying their card? It's a bit ludicrous when we've got frigging Death Eaters running around killing people and thinking they're it and a bit just because they dress up in their grandmother's frock and wear a mask.

Personally I can see their point. Why would I give a damn about their blood status? I don't care if someone's a pureblood, halfblood or Muggleborn, if they're doing something illegal, I'm going to arrest them. Their blood status is not going to change a damn thing.

Ah! I confess that I had not considered the short term implications and I can see your point. I plan on my wife and I getting them as soon as possible and I hope that all citizens will follow suit so you will not be required to engage in pointless arrests. I can certainly see how that will create more work for the department.

In my statement I confess I was thinking more of the long term where it seemed logical that it would increase efficiency to know immediately who an individual is and contact information if you should need to contact family and so forth. However, it will likely take some time to get to that point.

You're assuming that no one's going to counterfeit these things. And don't tell me it can't be done. If it exists, it can be counterfeited. That's a fact of life.

I think your chosen career has made you a cynic, Rufus. I tend to assume the majority of the population will not be counterfeiting IDs. Which, of course, does not mean that someone out there will not attempt it - possibly simply to attempt it.

Sort of makes a bloke wonder why it took one werewolf to get this pushed through through.

Not saying anything about the ID thing ITSELF but it's just funny how it happened. Probably not the poi

It does seem as if IDs might have been something useful to have for quite some time, but I suppose there must be some catalyst for everything.

There is no need at all to thank me. You know there is very little I enjoy more than spending time as a family.

I have not yet determined a set schedule, however I had been planning on perhaps once a week, and so far have been meeting that easily. Is that satisfactory? I thought it would be better to be cautious.

And it is perhaps a slight production, but I find that I don't mind all too much. In fact, I am finding myself quite enjoying your care and attention.

I assure you, I am doing everything I can to ensure this pregnancy progresses in a healthy manner. I will, of course, cease anything that may cause me undue stress or physical activity. The girls may not undersatnd at first why we can't play our favourite games, but they are good girls. They will listen. We have been blessed with two very extraordinary daughters, after all.

I think that works fine - if you feel poorly or seem to have any complications, you can always summon them at that time, but in the meantime I would think that once a week would work.

And our daughters will certainly understand. You could ask Yvette to spend a bit more time with them as well. I know that you enjoy the time with them, but for the first few weeks, it may be better.

And happy birthday, ma cherie.

A very good summary of the proper way to think about the whole issue, Mr. Nott.
