PERSONALITY
POSITIVE- DETERMINED: If there is one word that best describes Ginny, it is determined. She is the type of person who, when goals are set, it becomes a matter of when, rather than if. While she might have never have been the best student in the Weasley house (Percy), or the best Quidditch player (Charlie), Ginny is not afraid of pushing herself to the limits to do what she wants to achieve. At school, this meant hitting the books hard to try and come out with decent grades, and in Quidditch in working every hour of every day to try and make sure that she remains the best in her field.
- COURAGEOUS: It probably goes without saying with her coming from a proud line of Gryffindors, but Ginny has never been afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Whether this is defending Luna when others are picking on her, or joining a small band of rebels like Dumbledore's Army, she has never been one to shy away from what she believes for. Even when it looked like defeat was inevitable during the Battle of Hogwarts, and that they would all perish, she kept her head held high and did not blink.
- STRAIGHT TALKING: Maybe it was growing up in a large, loud and brash family, maybe it was just how Ginny has always been, but she has never believed in mincing her words. While she tries her best to not be rude, she prides herself on being direct about what Ginny thinks, and she believes in. She is a big believer that lies, and falsehoods will always hurt people more in the long run, so it is better to maybe upset them a little today, then hurt them more by withholding things in the long run. Examples of this from over the years include telling Ron when she thought he was being an ass or warning Harry when she thought he was making a mistake.
NEGATIVE
- SHORT-TEMPERED: Despite her protests that her anger is not as bad as it once was, Ginny has always been and always will be a fiery individual. While she is a lot more mellow now thanks to growing up a little, she still struggles to keep her temper in check, especially when she is tired or hungry. The worst thing that people can do to rile up her temper is to either a) insult her family or b) tell her that Ginny is wrong at something. This is something in the past that has caused her problems in previous relationships, where she has refused to back down on something, even if she knew she was in the wrong at the time.
- WORKAHOLIC: Even though Ginny might have had a very happy childhood, it was indisputably a poor childhood too. While it might have given Ginny a great many admirable personality traits, it instilled in her a determination to never be that poor ever again. As a result of this, she pushes herself to extremes to ensure that she never has to worry about money again. This includes working all of the hours under the sun and taking as many product endorsements that she can. Unfortunately for her, this means she can be a little prone to forgetting to check in with people, or even enjoying much of the life she has worked so hard to fund.
- HYPOCRITE: One of Ginny’s very worst qualities has to be the fact she can be a massive hypocrite. She will openly berate people for one thing, while proceeding to do the same thing, herself. An example of this is when Ginny made fun of Bill and Fleur for cuddling in public when she has been known to do the same. Worse then that is the fact that she can be so oblivious to it, and gets angry at those who call her out on it. Like, when Ginny snogged Dean publically, Ron criticises her for it and she immediately became angry. So angry that she mocks and humiliates Ron in front of Dean and Harry.
HISTORY
HOGWARTS AND BEFOREWhile the story of Ginevra Molly Weasley’s childhood and Hogwarts years, might be a well-known story, there are a few parts of it that certainly helped shape her more than others.POST WARThe most notable of these would come early in her time in Hogwarts where Tom Riddle's Diary managed to find its way into her battered second-hand copy of A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. When she had first discovered it amongst her school things in her trunk, she had first thought it to be just a plain journal that had accidentally fallen in with her things. Struggling with being away from home for the first time, she began to write in to, and much to her shock, it began to write back to her. Unbeknownst to her, every time she poured her heart and soul into what she wrote, a little of Tom’s soul began to pour back into her.
Then, to make matters worse, as strange things began to happen around the castle, she was driven to write in that diary more. Soon, she found herself blacking out and waking halfway across the castle, with no memory of how she did it. Thinking that she was going mad, she did try to try and tell Harry what she thought was causing the strange occurrences, but the chance never seemed to fully come for her. Blacking out one last time, Ginny awoke in the Chamber to find that Harry had saved her and destroyed Riddle's diary. Feeling better than she had for a long time (as well as very sheepish), it marked the end of an extremely eventful first year for Ginny.
While the next few years were without their eventfulness between the tournament, balls and other such things, one such event changed the course of her life forever. The revelation that Lord Voldemort had returned in the summer of 1995. In what felt like a whirlwind of activities, fears of classes soon phased into worrying about how to defend herself, before later joining the DA. While they all knew that it might not be enough to keep him at bay, it at least felt to Ginny as though she was attempting to do her part. Training provided a distraction from worries of what her friends and brother were up to and gave her a sense of purpose.
That is not to say that those years were negative though, as she has a lot of fond memories of playing Quidditch as Seeker, and even catching the Snitch a few times securing the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor. The next biggest event that changed her life though, was her sixth year at school, the battle of Hogwarts.
No matter how hard they might have prepared, nothing would fully prepare any of them for the horrors that they faced that day. Seeing her friends fall by her side, as she fought for her very existence against adults who would quite happily send her six foot under. While the battle may have been the hardest thing she had done to this day, nothing quite compared to the aftermath, or finding out she had lost her dear brother, Fred.
Stood on the cusp of adulthood, Ginny was very much at a loss to what to do when she first left school, like many of her peers. Having spent the last few years of her life focusing on survival, unsure of whether she would make it to the next day, normal life was something hard for Ginny to settle back into. So much so, for the first six months after she left school, she drifted through life rather aimlessly. Working evenings in The Leaky Cauldron, her life became somewhat focused on drinking, partying and trying her best to block out the years previous. It was on one fateful night though, that her luck somewhat changed. Having spent an afternoon in the bar, drinking with some friends, one of them made the mistake of making a sarcastic comment across the bar at her. Grabbing up a small orange on the side, she threw it across the bar with perfect accuracy, smacking him straight in the forehead. Unbeknownst to her, the coach for the Holyhead Harpies had been in the bar at the time and witnessed it. Asking where she developed a skill to throw such lengths, and explaining how she had played Quidditch at school, she was invited to a public try out for the team. Attending the trials at the insistence of her friends, Ginny honestly had not thought that anything would ever come of it. She had been more than happy to attend simply for the bragging rights to say that she had.
So, when the owl with the letter explaining she had been successful first arrived, she had thought it to be a joke. All her brothers were hardly innocent of doing things to her like that, so she dismissed it as a joke in poor taste. So, when a representative turned up to collect the papers though, Ginny realized that it was slightly less of a prank than she thought. Quitting her job at the pub, Ginny from there dedicated her life to training for the team, working day and night to prove that they had not made a mistake in their pick.
