My father and I had a conversation last night. I have reached the age at which I am expected to find a suitable girl to marry.

My first instinct was Avalon, of course. She is an exquisite woman, but my father seems hesitant. I suspect it has something to do with the Bell affair. Things were made rather public, and he worries about the connotations. He has not plainly said she is not a possible candidate, but it does seem a possibility.

His suggestion was Annalise, a lovely woman, certainly one with the right ideals.

I have allowed myself to be distracted by idle things, lost track of time. Now it seems there is none of it left.

I do understand Mr. Malfoy's hesitation. It is perfectly understandable after all. The public issue that had concerned both families had certainly been a... messy one. I could empathize if your father did not wish for your blood to be hooked in such a scandal. But what about Avalon? Last I checked you're quite attached to her...

Although I am certainly glad that your father views my blood so highly that he'll approve of your and my sister's joining, I will admit, my dear friend, that your news has certainly caught me off guard. Someone how I feel as if the news has yet sunk it fully, though as of the moment, I, of course, have no protests against it. Have you perhaps spoke with my sister of late? She and I are not in speaking terms at the moment, I'm afraid.

I'm sure she'll get over it.

I am quite attached to her, but that doesn't mean I will go against my father's wishes. He knows what is best for me and the family.

I can imagine how it might be surprising, but I am glad to hear you are not against the idea. She and I are friends, but I have not spoken much with her as of late. I believe we are inviting your family over for dinner, but it does seem you're out of the country.

I'm certain he does. It is with such that I can empathize myself, though the difference between my father and yours is that mine has rather... twisted morals at times, as you may know.

Of course, I am not, Scorpius. And you are? Yes, I am out of the country and I'm afraid I will not be returning until the end of the break. I had not known! Do forgive my absense, my friend. Perhaps we can speak when I return? That is if your schedule has not been filled with meetings with young bachelorettes by then...

How are your siblings taking this news? Certainly, they have expected this?
