Not really. Just a nice little hidey-hole to protect them from the cold. And he doesn't have to go into the garden. Isn't there an old fish tank in the attic? We can make a little terrarium and bring the garden in to him. He'd probably like it even if he decides he doesn't want to hibernate after all.
