What If? K-Pop Covers
Again, I won't be using my characters' names in this, I'll be speaking about BTS/BTOB in terms of their real-life names just to keep things simple.
First I'm gonna break down the members and their roles in each group. Since I'm going solely by the sound of them all, I'm just gonna note down their verbal roles.
Not gonna lie... this one was really hard to do. The three rappers were the easiest to assign but I get to the vocalists and while Jungkook's role was a piece of cake, I wavered between who of the remaining three should get Sungjae, Hyunsik, and Changsub.
I am aware that Jung Ilhoon is no longer a member of BTOB but I still thought I should go by the OT7 arrangement so it'd be equal on both sides.
Namjoon / RM Main Rapper, Vocalist
Seokjin / Jin Lead Vocalist
Yoongi / SUGA Main Rapper
Hoseok / j-hope Rapper, Vocalist
Jimin Lead Vocalist
Taehyung / V Lead Vocalist
Jungkook Main Vocalist
Eunkwang Main Vocalist
Minhyuk Lead Rapper
Changsub Lead Vocalist
Hyunsik Lead Vocalist
Peniel Lead Rapper
Ilhoon Main Rapper
Sungjae Lead Vocalist
We'll start out with the leader of BTS, and work our way down the age line from there.
Namjoon → Peniel
Considering Peniel's lines are in English and Namjoon has the best English pronunciation in BTS, it only makes sense for Namjoon to take Peniel's lines. Plus, I think Peniel's lines would sound best with Namjoon's voice in particular.
Jin → Sungjae
I teetered back and forth between giving Jin either Sungjae or Hyunsik but in the end I thought because of how emotional Jin's vocals can get, on top of how silvery his voice is, he'd be best suited to Sungjae's lines.
SUGA → Minhyuk
Honestly the second I heard Minhyuk's rap in the song, I knew his spot was going to go to Yoongi. Stylistically, they are both very similar because their rap sounds fast, passionate, and aggressive. SUGA would blow Min's verses out of the water.
j-hope → Ilhoon
Same reason as above. I can see j-Hope effortlessly tackling Ilhoon's verses from this song and I think it'd fit his voice and his style the best.
Jimin → Hyunsik
Jimin was so hard to place because he's a counter-tenor. Basically a tenor sings in a male range and a counter-tenor is a male who sings in a female range. After giving "I'll Be Your Man" about twenty consecutive listens trying to figure this the hell out, I think his voice would be best-suited to Hyunsik's lines though it will certainly come out a little more delicate.
V → Changsub
As soon as Changsub started singing in the song, I thought his vocals would match well with Taehyung's because of how Tae sings. Tae has a soft and deep voice that gets really velvety and I thought it'd sound best for Changsub's lines.
Jungkook → Eunkwang
Eunkwang is the main vocalist of BTOB and Jungkook is the main vocalist in BTS so it only makes sense for Jungkook to take Eunkwang's lines in the hypothetical BTS cover.
