AU OR OC: Canon. Some degree of AU due to "Days of Future Past" storylines.
NAME: James Howlett
NICKNAMES/ALIASES: Logan. Wolverine.
AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: Approximately 129. Born in the 1880s.
RELATIVES: Mother, Elizabeth, deceased Father, John, deceased* Son, Daken Daughter (via science, not actual procreation), Laura/X-23
*Thomas Logan is Logan's real, biological father. There are also theories that Sabretooth is in fact his father. For the sake of simplicity, and since it's a theory X-men writers never fully ran with, I am sticking to the John and Thomas storyline.
POWERS: Regeneration of damaged (or aged) tissue and bone.
He is virtually impossible to kill.
SKILLS/STRENGTHS: -longer and sharper than average canine teeth. -retractable bone claws, three on each hand, now coated in Adamantium. -better than human sense of smell, hearing and sight.
All of the above are genetic mutations and therefore not powers. They simply ARE. The healing is a mutation as well, but as it can be, and has been, disabled or altered whereas his sense have not, these are listed as strengths.
HANDICAPS/WEAKNESSES: The Adamantium is a weakness if Magento is around, or in the presence of a metal detector--it outs him as a mutant immediately if people know what they're looking for.
His age and ability to heal are also weaknesses. Logan has seen a lot of people he cares about die, and yet can survive just about everything himself.
Above all, his ability to fly into a rage is probably the greatest weakness.
APPEARANCE: Logan is five feet three inches, but height isn't what you notice about him. He has blue eyes that can be piercing or pleasant, depending on mood, and black hair that almost appears to be a mane. His eyes always seem a little too old, like he's seen too many hard or terrible things. He's usually not totally cleanshaven, and he's often got a cigar hanging out of his face. He's partial to jeans and boots when he's not in his X-men getup, and he's also partial to riding motorcycles--his and not his. His teeth are a little too sharp, which is something people don't always notice. His voice tends to have a growl to it, and his words tend to have more bite than his teeth. He's very often scowling.
Logan is very muscular, and looks like he can more than take care of himself.
Logan's body weighs about 185 lbs. not including his skeleton. Including that, he weighs 300.
PERSONALITY:
To strangers, Logan is gruff and sarcastic, and he tries to keep to himself. This is a holdover from his time prior to the X-men; when he's on his own, he is very much on his own and wants no help and wants to give no help. When working with the X-men, Logan is still gruff and sarcastic, but he very definitely goes the extra mile in all he does. Logan cares very, very deeply for his friends and would do almost anything for them, but he does not make getting close to him an easy thing.
DEEPEST DESIRE: Oooh. It's a close tie between being with Jean Grey and being happy. And no, those two things may not go together.
GUILTY PLEASURE: Logan would fill the garage at Xavier's with vintage motorcycles if he was allowed. Aside from that, good cigars and beer. And subpar cigars.
OCCUPATION: Teacher, though he had to have professor x tell him how that came to be. he teaches history Xavier's school.
EDUCATION: Logan had private tutors as a child. Additional education comes from reading and living through so much.
TELL US SOMETHING WE DON'T KNOW: Logan wrote and published a noire crime novel in the 1930s. He has a copy in his room at Xavier's.
HISTORY:
Logan was born James Howlett in the 1880s in Alberta, Canada. His parents were wealthy and owned a farm. His childhood isn't discussed much until the events that caused his mutation to show, as trauma often, in the world of the X-men, causes mutants powers to manifest.
The family's upset groundskeeper, Thomas Logan, came to the Howlett's house and killed Logan's father after being thrown off the property for the actions of his son, Dog. In response, Logan (young James), killed Thomas with bone claws--the first time these had appeared, and an event that would change Logan's life forever.
His mother threw him out of the house because of the murder and killed herself. It isn't clear if he knew it at the time, but Wolverine's father was Thomas Logan. (Hence his name.)
Logan fled with his friend, Rose, and went to work mining until he accidentally killed Rose with his claws, years later, a grown man. For a while, he lived alone in the Canadian wilderness, among wolves. He spent some time in a circus, too. His time there spurred a rivalry with Sabretooth involving the death of his brother, Saul Creed.
He spent time living with the Blackfoot tribe, met and was involved with Silver Fox, another mutant. Sabretooth killed her, and Logan ended up fighting in WWI with the Canadian military. Logan then spends some time in Madripoor, before settling in Japan, where he gets married and has a son (who he initially does not know about).
During World War II, Logan teams up with Captain America and continues a career as a soldier-of-fortune and adventurer. He then serves with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion during D-Day, and the CIA, before being recruited by Team X, a black ops unit. Team X gives him false memory implants. He continues on the team, until he is able to break free of the mental control and joins the Canadian Defence Ministry. Logan is subsequently kidnapped by the Weapon X program, where he remains captive and experimented on, until he escapes.
During this experimentation, Logan's entire skeleton is coated in Adamantium.
Please read additional history HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_(comics) and HERE:http://marvel.wikia.com/Wolverine_(James_%22Logan%22_Howlett). Due to the extensive amount of histories that exist for this character, the moderator has allowed a wiki link in this case. As a player, I will be assuming Logan is coming from just after the movie/storyline "Days of Future Past." Since the comics differ from the movie, I am sticking to the MOVIE version of that part of canon. Please message me directly with any questions about history as it can get very confusing and I do not assume all have read the comics.
CANON PUNCTURING: Are you okay with people telling your character they're fictional?
If you really think your character can handle it, I mean, it's your funeral. But you're welcome to. Given the travelling through time and alternate realities he's already been a part of, Logan is probably not going to give it a lot of creedence, though.
