Full name: Jamie Renee Stiles Nicknames: James Date of birth/age: May 5th, 1988/26 Occupation: RN at Lakewood Medical Education: RN-BSN from UNE Residence: School Yard Lofts - Apt 2B Appearance: Jamie comes in at just around 5'6", is the perfect weight for her height, has just enough curves to keep things interesting, and has incredibly striking green eyes and blonde hair. She's lived a pretty rough life, having dealt with abuse and struggled with drug addiction on and off during her teenage years, but to look at her, one would never guess it. She looks like the type of girl who would have been a cheerleader in high school and who would have hung around with all the other popular, pretty girls, though that's not exactly how things played out back then. Personality: If one were to sum Jamie up in a single word, that word would be feisty. Jamie has never been the sort to back down from much of anything. She's a fighter, through and through. It doesn't matter who the other person is or how big they are, if they piss her off, she's going to throw down. And she always fights to win. Though this aspect of her personality has diminished over the years, that part of her still lurks just below the surface and can be easily pushed out.
Another thing about Jamie is that she loves with a reckless sort of abandon best reserved for fiction. It has driven her to do some rather outrageous things over the years when it comes to the various men that have been a part of her life. And it has gotten her heart broken more than once over the years as well. But in spite of all of the times that it's caused her to be royally screwed over, that aspect of her personality hasn't changed.
In her younger years, Jamie was, for lack of a better word, a slut. She liked to party hard, loved her nose candy, would drink far too much, and would put out for pretty much anyone that showed her the slightest bit of affection. And it didn't really matter whether she had a boyfriend at the time or not. Now that she's older, that part of her personality has changed as well. She's come to realize that it was a lack of love and respect for herself that drove these actions, and she works very hard these days to both love and respect herself more so that she doesn't fall back into old patterns.
History: If there were such a thing as a wrong side of the tracks in Lakewood Shores, that's where Jamie came from. She was born to an alcoholic father and a mother she never really knew while growing up as she split town when Jamie was just a kid. She had an older half brother who was a very sick and twisted individual who inflicted a lot of trauma on Jamie all throughout her childhood on into her teen years. She also had a younger half brother who spent most of his time being passed around various foster homes and juvenile detention centers.
As a teenager, Jamie had quite the reputation. All the girls really disliked her because all the boys liked her. The reason they liked her was simple; Jamie Stiles was easy. In fact, one of the more popular girls at her school started calling her the town bicycle, a nickname that passed around the high school like wildfire. If they had had a clue about the type of things she endured at home, perhaps they would have been nicer, but no one really stopped to look at her home life.
Jamie had been dating a football player, Reggie, on and off since her sophomore year. He was completely crazy about her and she cared a great deal about him too. But like clockwork, every Summer, she and Reggie would break up and she would end up hooking up with Christian Velmont, a rich boy with a summer home in the area. In spite of the fact that he was a bit of an asshole and a total player who slept with her best friend every chance he got, Jamie was crazy about him. And yet she couldn't quite quit Reggie. Every time Christian left, she'd end up getting back together with him.
It was her senior year of high school when things in her life changed. First, Jamie actually became friends with a girl whom, up until that point, she had considered her mortal enemy. Second, thanks to a round of antibiotics that nullified her birth control, Jamie ended up pregnant. She gave birth to a little girl, Cassie, shortly after her eighteenth birthday. Thanks to the timing of the pregnancy, she knew right away that the baby was Reggie's. Because of this, she decided to try and work things out with him. They even moved in together for a while, but they were always fighting, mostly because Jamie was still in contact with Christian Velmont. Eventually, Reggie decided he'd had enough. He fought for and gained primary custody of Cassie and moved away Lakewood Shores.
With no real reason to stay, Jamie left Lakewood Shores and moved to London to be with Christian. This proved to be a mistake on her part. She and Christian were always butting heads. He was still unwilling to be faithful to her, still just as controlling and just as much of an asshole as he was when he was a teenager. And Jamie was still just as stubborn and short-tempered as ever which made for a very volatile pairing. Things were even worse during the Summer when Cassie would come to London to stay with her. She and Christian were almost always at one another's throats. Eventually it became too much and Jamie left London to return to the states.
It was after returning to the United States, to a studio apartment in Lakewood Shores, that Jamie decided that she needed to get her life on track. She was twenty-two years old and had zero life skills and no career prospects. The only job she could find was working at the local coffee shop for minimum wage which barely paid enough to cover her bills. So she left Lakewood Shores yet again, this time to go to Portland where she attended the University of New England to earn her RN-BSN.
Jamie would have been happy to never see the town of Lakewood Shores again, but it was Lakewood Medical who offered her a position immediately after she passed her NCLEX. Since there weren't any other offers on the table, she accepted the job, secured a 2 bedroom apartment so that Cassie would have her own room when she came to stay with her during the summer, and started saving money so that she can hire an attorney to petition for a better custody arrangement.
